Robin Roberts receives 'lovely' surprise ahead of wedding to Amber Laign amid her absence from 'GMA'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ has been running without its three leading hosts in the past week who are away from the studio desk for unknown reasons.
Be it Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos, or Robin Roberts, all have ditched ‘GMA’ for other priorities and have failed to disclose them to the concerned fans and viewers.
But the 62-year-old Robin Roberts may have just revealed the reason for her absence which involves a dinner at Mayo Clinic’s Board of Trustee meeting in Rochester, Minnesota, with her fiancee Amber Laign.
Roberts and Laign are gearing up for their wedding soon and were surprised with a dessert for their dinner.
Why did Robin Roberts miss ‘GMA’?
The ‘GMA’ host finally revealed in an Instagram post that she attended a Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees Meetings in Rochester.
Mayo Clinic is a top-ranked hospital in the United States with campuses in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota.
It seemed like Roberts was invited to a special dinner and Laign accompanied her for this out-of-city adventure.
The ‘GMA’ host shared a photo of the Mayo Clinic logo split with a plate containing a tasty dessert. It was a white plate that read ‘Congratulations Robin & Amber’ in a red gel.

The writing surrounded what appeared to be a white frosted cake with two flowers on the top. The cake was given to Roberts in celebration of her upcoming wedding.
Roberts was moved by this gesture and later snapped a photo of the dessert and shared it with her millions of followers.
She captioned the post, “Attending Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees Meetings in Rochester, MN. At last night’s dinner, Sweet Amber & I received a lovely surprise for our upcoming wedding! We so appreciate and love our Mayo family. Wishing all a wonderful weekend.”
However, a date is yet to be fixed for Roberts and Laign's wedding.
Robin Roberts on-air bachelorette in the ‘GMA’ studio
Only recently, Roberts revealed the details of her upcoming Bachelorette party ahead of her wedding to fiancee Laign.
Co-hosts Rebecca Jarvis and George Stephanopoulos brought up the subject live on air where Jarvis exclaimed, “You've got a bachelorette party.”
Stephanopoulos chipped in and questioned Roberts, “Could 14-year-old Robin Roberts have imagined she would be having a bachelorette party on national television?”
Roberts shook her head. "No way," she said. "Especially to a woman!” Everyone in the studio laughed at her statement.
Stephanopoulos gave his final thought on the matter and said, “Radical honesty on GMA, it's a good thing!"
