Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 81, marries Dana Blumberg, 47, in grand ceremony that even surprised guests
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: There's a new newlywed pair in town! Robert Kraft, 81, the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots football team, and his girlfriend Dr Dana Blumberg, 47, have tied the knot in a surprising and grand ceremony!
The ceremony, which is branded as a ‘Kickoff and a Touchdown’ party was conducted at the Hall des Lumieres in Lower Manhattan. The party reportedly had an attendance of 250 high-profile guests, as reported by Page Six- but it’s not the grand scale of the wedding or the size of the wedding party that is surprising, it is the wedding itself!

According to reports, it is said that the guests were not even informed about the fact that they were attending a wedding (or at least, a scaled-out marriage announcement).
Guests were told to dress festively with no information as to what they are coming for. And when they reached the venue, it is said that an emotional and moving 10-minute AV was played- at the end of which, the legendary voice of NFL commentator Al Michaels pronounced them both husband and wife!
Kraft, having been born into an Orthodox Jewish family, upheld the wedding traditions of his religion- he stepped on a glass during the wedding party as per Jewish customs. While the guests were only present for the announcement about the wedding itself and the party after, nobody has concrete information as to when the couple actually said their vows. It would seem that the surprise event was one that was put together on short notice, in a matter of three weeks! The reason being: Elton John.
Interestingly, the legendary singer had offered to sing at the wedding whenever they had it, as a token of his love for the sports team owner. The now-married couple took him up on his offer and picked the one date he had available at the earliest! The ‘Rocketman’ singer was the first one to announce the happy couple as Mr and Mrs Robert Kraft and had made sure the high-key crowd knew that he was here only to perform as a wedding gift for his beloved friend.
Reports also say that Ed Sheeran was also present. He had shared the stage with Elton John that night, in an amazing duet of the song ‘Candle in the Wind’, originally sung by Elton John himself. NFL legend Tom Brady was also at the wedding- the absence of his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen was noted, given the widely covered supposed marital discord between the two.
A whole host of big names were also present- including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and New England Patriots’ President, Robert Kraft’s son, Jonathan. The bride is said to have worn an ivory dress by Naeem Khan, while the billionaire groom opted for an Armani dinner jacket, which he wore with his Air Force 1 sneakers.
