BATT REFF, AUSTRALIA: Robert Irwin, 18-year-old son of legend Steve Irwin, was reportedly 'peeved' with his 24-year-old sister Bindi Irwin. New Idea reports Irwin is apparently jealous after Bindi scored a role in a Marvel animated series. Bindi confirmed that she is voicing a character called Isla Coralton in the Marvel animated series ‘Spidey and His Amazing Friends.’

Speaking to New Idea, a family friend said, "Robert has made no secret of the fact that he wants a Hollywood action role. Robert has been pretty single-minded. He spends hours in the gym every day, networks like a champion with the likes of Russell Crowe and Chris Hemsworth, and is seen as very much a real-life superhero thanks to his work with crocodiles." The source also added that Bindi "feels bad" that her role has become a barrier to Robert’s goal.

Bindi's announcement

Bindi shared the announcement of her role on Instagram earlier in September, revealing she'd recorded a voice-over for Isla Coralton, an oceanographer. The animated show features younger versions of fan favourite Marvel characters and airs on Disney Junior. Bindi shared that it was "an honour" to be chosen for the role in the deleted post. She wrote, as quoted by by the New Idea, “Being an enormous Marvel fan, it is an honour to be part of the extraordinary world of Spidey and His Amazing Friends." Speaking about her character, Bindi said, "It is important to empower the next generation to love our planet. To have respect for all living creatures and the environment that they call home. And I think that this series does a really, really good job at introducing those ideas.”

However, as per the report, Bindi's Hollywood break came as a surprise to Irwin. A source said, "It came as a bit of a rude shock that Bindi is still seen as the more bankable star largely because of the huge amounts of press she’s generated almost from birth. He privately admits he’s disappointed he wasn’t also asked to voice an animation, too. That said, Robert is Bindi’s biggest fan and supporter. He just hoped this time it might be his chance."

Irwin, who has also previously voiced Alfie in a children's series, shared a sweet tribute to his sister for her birthday earlier this year on July 24. He wrote, "Thanks for being someone I can always count on for advice, support, kindness and a good laugh. Bindi you are an absolute boss! Hard worker, amazing sister and such a wonderful mum to Grace, she is a lucky kid! love you."
