Robert F Kennedy, Jr. is being slammed on social media for claiming that Covid-19 vaccines have killed more people than all vaccines "over the past 30 years." For this, he chose to cite incomplete self-reported data which did not account for patients' actual causes of death.

The nephew of former president John F Kennedy, Jr., who is also an environmental lawyer made the wild claims Monday, November 15, on Fox News' 'Tucker Carlson Today.' "There have been 17,000 deaths reported to VAERS from the Covid vaccines," Kennedy, a professor at Pace University, said on the segment. "And that’s more, in the last eight months, than all vaccines - the billions and billions of vaccines - combined over the past 30 years. This vaccine appears to be killing more people than all vaccines combined."

Is the VAERS data reliable?

To prove his argument, he cited figures from the Centers for Disease Control's Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), which is a self-reporting tool that the CDC says may "contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable." The disease control organization has also time and again stressed on the safety of the Covid-19 vaccines, which are recommended for everyone aged 5 or older and urged people to take it "as soon as possible."

In an interview with Mediate, Dr Pradheep J Shanker, a radiologist from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, warned that assessing the safety of Covid vaccines based on VAERS data is "not accurate." "VAERS was intended to cast a wide net to capture any possible or potential complication that even has the remotest possibility of being related to the vaccine," Dr Shanker said. Any adverse event is considered reportable. This ranges from direct symptoms, such as fevers or hematomas, to events such as death from blunt trauma in a car accident (which, of course, is highly unlikely to be related to the vaccine). With hundreds of millions of doses, the likelihood of some percentage of those people dying (especially among the elderly) after vaccination is a certainty."

Long before the Covid-19 pandemic, Kennedy, a lifelong Democrat has expressed anti-vaccine views. The 67-year-old was banned from Instagram in February "for repeatedly sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines."

'RFK Jr. is basically the Waluigi of the Kennedies'

RFK Jr has been heavily criticized for his views. "WTF happened to RFK Jr? Didn't he used to be sane?" one Twitter user wrote. Another said, "Well...since he has yet to experience death to use as an actual comparison, I don't think RFK Jr has a shred of credibility here. How does he know there are things 'worse than death' if he has not died before?" One more wrote, "Just RFK Jr when he realized he could get more attention that way." The next remarked, "Absolute tosser. Plenty of reliable data out there to prove vaccine side effects are minimal compared to the benefits of being vaccinated." Another added, "RFK jr is an idiot who has been peddling bogus antivax crap for years. You people are clowns."

One more noted, "RFK Jr. is basically the Waluigi of the Kennedies." A commenter tweeted, "Do we need any more evidence this guy is a nut, who makes stuff up?" The next pointed out, "We're lucky that a generation of Americans in 1776 thought that it would be better to die than to not secure these rights for us -RFK Jr." Another commented, "It’s not real until RFK Jr. is there to greet his cousin back from the grave." A person reacted with, "So sad that I’m order to be relevant RFK Jr. has decided to double down on vaccine conspiracy notions…so many dying from misinformation- HIS FATHER IS TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE…when is mental health month?" Another said, "Most of the Kennedy men were and are evil, but RFK, Jr. takes the prize. Just listen to him sometime."
