In the first episode of 'Roadkill', we meet Conservative government minister Peter Laurence, who is as charismatic as controversial, as likable as problematic. With his working-class roots, he has come a long way and this journey has not been unknown to his peers.

In the very first episode of this political drama, he is promoted to be the new Minister of Justice by the Prime Minster Dawn Ellison (Helen McCrory). This is a trick move as she is simultaneously digging into past and present and unearthing buried secrets and forgotten pasts. It is also ironic that she makes Laurence the Minister of Justice because he is only fresh out of winning a lawsuit against a newspaper – as a result of slightly tweaking his own account. Of course, it wasn't lying all the way, he would explain.

In the previous episode, it was revealed that Laurence has an illegitimate daughter in prison. He goes for a visit there but doesn't get to meet his so-called daughter. Shortly afterward, he leaves assuming that this is the end of the discussion surrounding this scandal. Only he doesn't know that things are certain to only escalate from here on.

According to the official synopsis of the upcoming episode, "Promoted to the justice minister, Peter deals with a prison riot, an angry daughter, and alarming contacts from a stranger. Meanwhile, an unknown threat looms abroad." It looks like we are going to find out more about the messiness of Laurence and his politics and the effect it has on his family. Also, remember that Laurence doesn't exactly live with his family and is currently involved in an affair with 'Borgen' star Sidse Babett Knudsen as Madeleine Halle.

Since the synopsis suggests that Laurence is to deal with an angry daughter, could it be after her discovery of the affair? But wait for a second, wasn't his daughter Lily Laurence (Millie Brady) herself who was caught by paparazzi snorting cocaine in the underground of a pub and attempting to make a young man jealous by getting intimate with another. If she was busy getting involved and sucking her entire family in this scandal, how is it that she is angry at Laurence?

Or does she find out about his so-called daughter in the prison? This information is sure to turn the tables against Laurence.

Episode 2 of 'Roadkill' will air on November 8, 2020, at 9 pm ET.
