RNC 2020: Trace Adkins trolled for singing national anthem, Internet says he 'butchered the song'

The singer performed the National Anthem at Fort McHenry but people slammed his singing calling it one of the worst performances the country has ever seen

Country music star Trace Adkins performed America's National Anthem 'Star-Spangled Banner' at the end of the third night of the 2020 Republican National Convention. But soon, the internet started trolling him for his singing. 

The singer performed the anthem at Fort McHenry, the site where Francis Scott Key wrote the words during the War of 1812 as the fort held off a British naval attack. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump joined Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence onstage for the performance. The four then left the stage to mingle with the crowd following the national anthem. 

Mocking Adkins one user tweeted, "I bet Trump supporters like their soda flat, just like the National Anthem that Trace Adkins butchered." Another said, "I don’t know Trace Adkins but he really butchered the National Anthem just like how Trump butchered America." While some made fun of him and said, "I’m confused. Is trace adkins supposed to be good at singing the national anthem? I can’t stop laughing." Another one replied saying, "As much as I would like someone to tell me the last four years have been a prank, it’s real! Though I did have to ponder for a few seconds on the first view if it was a prank dub over too haha!"

One said, "I did not have trace Adkins butchering the national anthem at the RNC on my 2020 bingo card." Another added, "I worked in AAA Baseball for 8 years and I’ve heard some really s****y renditions of the National Anthem. Trace Adkins’ was one of the worst I’ve ever heard."

Another one made fun of him saying, "Serious question: does anyone think @realDonaldTrump can name two Trace Adkins songs other than the national anthem?" Another one said, "Trace adkins rendition of the national anthem. Every dog in the neighborhood is howling in ear pain."

Soon, people started comparing him with Roseanne Barr, who sang National Anthem in 1990 San Diego Padres game, which is considered one of the all-time worst 'Star-Spangled Banner' performances ever, as one user tweeted, "Trace Adkins killed it tonight! Just kidding -- that was the most offensive rendition of our national anthem I've ever heard, with the sole exception of Roseanne Barr's. Geez, that was painful. #RNCConvention2020 #RNCConvention." 

Another said, "Trace Adkins, I think Rosanne Barr might have sung it better." Another user said, "Wow. Who would’ve thought Trace Adkins’ National Anthem would be in the top 5 worst things I’ve heard so far this week."
