Melania's kiss-or-miss moment with Trump at RNC 2020 goes viral, did she turn cheek when he tried to lock lips?

The moment happened right after she delivered a keynote address in front of a small audience at the White House

The Republican National Convention 2020 grabbed many eyeballs on day two as it starred Melania Trump, First Lady and wife of President Donald Trump along with several other members of the Trump family. As she gave the keynote address before a small audience at the White House along with the president’s daughter Tiffany and son Eric, she was praised for her grace and composure. 

During her speech, the First Lady said she admired her husband’s approach in being straightforward to the public. "Whether you like it or not, you always know what he’s thinking," she said. Moreover, she claimed how he was the first president to talk about the importance of religious freedom in front of the United Nations.

The 50-year-old Slovenian-American former model highlighted how Trump has helped bring an unparalleled number of women in leadership roles. "He welcomes different points of view and encourages thinking outside of the box," she said, adding that he doesn't "waste time playing politics." Not just that, she added that the Trump campaign was underestimated in 2016. "I know, just as you do, that Americans will go to the polls and will vote on behalf of their families, the economy, our national security, and our children's future." she said, adding, "To vote for those ideals is not a partisan vote, it is a common-sense vote because those are goals and hopes we all believe in."

As the speech came to a close, Trump drew towards her for a hug and a kiss. The moment soon stole the spotlight and went viral with many viewers wondering if Melania avoided Trump's attempt to kiss her on the lips by bringing her cheek forward. Thousands of Twitter users couldn't stop wondering whether she rebuffed a kiss on the lips intentionally.

One tweet read: "Tell me that Melania didn’t just totally avoid Trump’s kiss right there after her speech." Another said, "Wait for the end. When Trump goes to hug or kiss Melania. It will be the best acting scene of the year. #RNC2020."

One Twitter user posted, "Who caught Trump trying to kiss Melania on the lips and she curved him #RNC2020," and another said, "Melania turns her face when Trump goes to give her a kiss, she couldn’t even hide her disgust for the photo."

Wondering what kind of relationship the two shared, one Twitter user posted: "Has anyone EVER seen Melania and Donald kiss? Like married people who care about each other do?"

Another joked: "Melania wouldn’t even kiss him on the lips! Each time she turned that cheek out real quick!"

The first lady then concluded her speech at the White House, wrapping up the second night of the Republican convention. Melania and Trump became engaged in 2004 and on January 22, 2005, they married in an Anglican service. The pair have a son together, Barron Trump. According to a PBS report, a campaign spokesman said that Trump himself is expected to play "a significant role" in prime-time programming.
