'Riverdale' co-stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart split after two years of dating: Reports
It looks like things are over between Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart. The 'Riverdale' co-stars who play Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper have reportedly split after dating for nearly two years. E! News reported that an inside source told them that the couple broke up earlier this summer. "The two are not living together this season." US Weekly broke the news first.
The website via a scoop from the insider said that the duo were "intentionally keeping their distance from each other." However, they're on much better terms after the series has resumed production for season 4.
The news comes as a shocker for the fans of 'Bughead' as the two were all smiles and cheers at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 just a couple of days before. The insider also added that it is still unclear where things stand. "But it seems [like] they could be heading back in the direction of getting together."
Reinhart (22) and Sprouse (26) sparked rumors of their romance in 2017 at Comic-Con and continued to fuel speculation. It wasn't until the Met Gala 2018 that the couple confirmed that they were indeed dating.
According to US Weekly, which was the first site to report the news, The couple were seen keeping their distance from each other at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party in San Diego on Saturday, July 21. While they both mingled with the 'Riverdale' cast at different times, they were rarely seen together.
Neither of the stars have confirmed these reports but both have been known to be notoriously private about their personal lives. Reinhart's latest Instagram posts however, do not indicate much of a rift as she posted an image of herself with Sprouse from Comic-Con. She repeatedly zoomed in on his face and concluded the funny posts with the a photo that she captioned with "Help lol."
Earlier this year, Sprouse opened up about his relationship with Reinhart and spoke about the most romantic thing he had done for her. “I really like the road trip date. I took my girlfriend on a date where we drove to this location deep into Canada, and I surprised her with a big hot-air balloon adventure, which was quite a bit of fun,” he told Glamour magazine in March.
“I like traveling quite a bit. I like road-tripping. Those grand experiences always end up yielding the greatest memories — and the greatest romances.”
It's hard to say for certain if the two really did split, but, again, this is certainly sad news for Bughead fans.
