Ricky Gervais slammed those who labeled Jada Pinkett-Smith's alopecia a 'disability'. This came up as he offered his two cents on Will Smith and Chris Rock slap that happened at the 94th Academy Awards. Gervais got on a live Q&A session and spoke to his fans regarding what went down.

The 60-year old comedian said that the joke Rock made about Jada 'was not bad' and simply described it as the 'tamest joke'. Gervais has been quite transparent in expressing his disregard towards Smith's behavior during the 2022 Oscars. Smith went on the stage and slapped Rock as he made a 'GI Jane 2 joke' about Jada's shaved head.

'I wouldn't have made a joke about his wife’s hair, I would have...': Ricky Gervais's savage response to Will Smith slap

He casually said, "Someone said it was joking about her [Jada's] disability. Well I'm going a bit thin, so I'm disabled. That means I can park right up next to Tescos now." The comedian said speaking of privileges for differently-abled people.

He let out a laugh and then said, "And I'm fat, that's a disease. I'm fat and balding, I should get f***ing benefits.' Following this, Gervais said that Rock's comment 'wasn't bad' and he also condemned Smith for slapping the host as he made a joke in his opening monologue. Gervais' exact words were, "You don't hit people over a joke, however bad it is. And it wasn't bad!" He then added, "That was like the tamest joke I would ever have told."

Gervais previously quipped that he would never had joked about Jada's hair loss. However, he would have ribbed her about her 'boyfriend' instead. Jada had a relationship with singer August Alsina and it was part of the headlines for most part of last year.Globally, Ricky's fans were keen to know what he would have done if he were in that situation. When Gervais hosted the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, he made multiple unforgiving digs at his fellows from the industry.

Talking to the Mirror about this uneventful incident, Ricky said, "I'll get it out of the way. I have not got any Will Smith material. I trended when that happened and I was not even there. What has it got to do with me? People were going 'What would have happened if Ricky Gervais had been doing it (hosting Oscars)?"

He continued, "Well, nothing as I would not have made a joke about his wife's hair. I would have made a joke about her boyfriend." He joked further by saying, "This new material is going to be for my new show called Armageddon. I might change that to Alopecia."

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Jada 'wishes' Will 'didn't get physical' with Rock, but isn't 'angry with' her husband. The pair - who married in 1997 and have two children together Willow, 21, and Jaden, 23 - are apparently 'in agreement' that Smith 'overreacted.'
