The 'Real Housewives of Orange County' star Kelly Dodd defended her decision to pose for a picture with President Donald Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, after she received backlash on social media.

Appearing on TMZ Live on Thursday, January 2, Dodd said she did not understand why people were outraged because she decided to take pictures with the Trump brothers. The 44-year-old reality star said she did not give it much thought before taking the picture and only thought "it would be cool" to get her photos taken with the men. As a result, she's been "blindsided by the backlash," Dodd said.

The photos in question were uploaded by Dodd on Monday, December 30, on her Instagram account. While attending Fox News commentator Jesse Waters’ wedding in Naples, Florida, Dodd and her fiancé Rick Leventhal posed with Republican figures like Eric, Trump Jr and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is a former Fox News reporter.

“Beautiful wedding with an impressive guest list,” Dodd captioned the post. “OBTW, I AM NOT AT ALL POLITICAL .. I love everyone stay positive.”

The post quickly drew a barrage of angry comments from fans who did not want Dodd to associate herself with the Trumps. In reply to one social media users, who claimed to not like Dodd anymore after seeing the picture, the actress clarified, "I’m at a wedding they’re at…. that's the extent of it."

Later talking to TMZ, she said the backlash she faced online was totally "un-American."

Apparently, Dodd has known Guilfoyle for the past couple of years and she was sitting behind her at the wedding and since Eric was there with his wife, all of them thought it would be cool to take a picture together.

"I am just not a political person. And I have never talked about politics... But you know what, we can all agree to disagree. We can all have our different views. I don't wanna be in a society that's all like like-minded," she said.
