'RHOBH' Reunion: Crystal called out for silence on Kathy's 'don't see color' remark

When Crystal Minkoff was asked to join the cast of 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills', she was pretty ecstatic as she felt that the show would be a great platform to represent Asians and their culture. Fans too were pretty excited about having an Asian housewife amongst the glitzy and glamorous Beverly Hills housewives. But once the show premiered, fans began having mixed feelings about the new housewife.

It all began when Crystal went after fan-favorite housewife Sutton Stracke. When the ladies were having a conversation about race, Sutton made an ignorant remark, saying she felt everybody was equal. Crystal immediately called out her co-star for her remark and accused her of being the type of person who 'doesn't see color'. Although Sutton apologized to Crystal and promised to be more mindful during conversations about race, the new housewife wasn't ready to let Sutton off the hook just yet. Things just went downhill between the two ladies immediately after that as they continued to feud for most of the season. Although fans appreciated Crystal's firm stance on acknowledging racism and race, they were however unhappy with her reaction to her friend and co-star Kathy Hilton, saying the exact same thing that she doesn't see color. When Kathy revealed that Michael Jackson once told her he didn't see color her whole perception and worldview changed, instead of trying to correct Kathy, Crystal just kept quiet and didn't say anything.

After watching Crystal's response to Kathy repeating Michael Jackson's comment, fans began calling out the new housewife for being a hypocrite. Many fans took to Twitter to slam Crystal for going after Sutton but not Kathy. A fan tweeted, "Crystal is a hypocrite, she put the words "I don't see color" in Suttons mouth and then dragged her for it. Then when Kathy Hilton says "I don't see color" she has nothing to say. Crystal is "That girl", the girl with double standards. #RHOBH." Another fan wrote, "Nobody should be spewing racist mess to Crystal, but she can come at Sutton for “not seeing color”and was SILENT at Kathy’s silly a** comment about Michael Jackson #RHOBH." "So basically Kathy can say things others can't simply because she's Kathy Hilton. She said the exact same thing Sutton said & yet Crystal crucified Sutton but said NOTHING to Kathy. Why? Because if you come for Kathy Hilton you will become a social pariah! #RHOBHReunion #RHOBH," wondered a fan.

Several fans even called out Crystal for being quiet when her fellow housewife Garcelle Beauvais was being subject to micro-aggressions and racism by their co-stars. A fan shared, "It's funny how Crystal has so much to say on race but is mute when Garcelle is being attacked with micro-aggressions left and right, why she let Kathy slide for saying she don't see color? #RHOBH." "Crystal constantly reminded us that people of color ain’t are allies. She want us to think she understands racism, but absolutely silent as these white women bully Garcelle.
