Renee Zellweger raised a lot of eyebrows when she started to discuss stars who married gay men while talking about her newest role in the upcoming Judy Garland biopic which has been titled 'Judy'.

The 50-year-old actress recently gave an interview to Vulture and made note that both Judy and her daughter Liza Minnelli married gay men. During the interview, writer Jonathan Van Meter mentions to the actress writing: 'It's interesting that both Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli married gay men, I say, and here she makes the most complicated and hilarious face imaginable, one that seems to say, all at once, Haven't we all? And Go Figure!'

She responded to this by saying, "Cute’s cute. Handsome is handsome! Sweet is sweet. If it works… I mean… I mean! Sometimes it just doesn’t really matter. It just didn't. If there’s a spark, it just is, and who needs to explain it?" Her character Judy Garland had been married to director Vincente Minnelli and actor Mark Herron with both of them being rumored to be gay. Her daughter Liza Minnelli was married to Peter Allen and David Gest. While Allen came out as gay, Gest denied the rumors of homosexuality.

Her recent address on the issue of homosexuality comes 14 years after Zellweger separated from her husband Kenny Chesney just four months after their marriage.  Although she had cited fraud as the reason for their split, it kicked off a storm of speculation that Kenny was gay, something which he fiercely denied, the DailyMail reported.

During an interview with the Associated Press, Chesney had shared that "the only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like… that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn’t." Around two years after their split, Chesney spoke to Anderson Cooper and revealed that he did not want to draw any more attention to the rumors.

He further added that he had a long line of women who could testify that he was not gay. "I think people need to live their lives the way they want to, but I'm pretty confident in the fact that I love girls," Chesney shared. Renee's Judy film will be releasing later on this month on September 27 in the US and October 4 in the UK.
