Reese Witherspoon poses in stunning photo with mother and lookalike daughter for magazine
Although Reese would not talk about whether she grew up with money, she admitted that she feels it's important for women to know their options and be able to provide for themselves
Reese Witherspoon is quite happy with where she stands in her career, and at the age of 42, that is quite a feat to achieve in Hollywood. The blonde bombshell, who stars in 'Big Little Lies', is also a producer on the show which is on its second leg now.
With all these achievements to her list, Witherspoon, a mother of three, was aptly chosen to model for Vogue's February 2019 issue. But the Oscar-winner didn't want the spotlight to be just on her, so she had two of her favorite women at the shoot: her mother Betty and her teen daughter Ava. For her interview, the 'Legally Blonde' star stuck to the theme of women empowerment quite strongly and spoke about how it is essential that women be financially independent.
She told the publication that she loves helping other women out with her production company. "The idea is to put women at the center of the story…I was sick of making movies where I was the only female lead on the set. I was sick of seeing scripts where there was one female role, badly written, and yet every actress in town wanted the part because there was nothing else," said the 'Cruel Intentions' actress.
"I finally asked myself, Why does it have to be the same 20 people making all the movies?" she said. "Maybe there is room for a more inclusive idea about who can be on-screen and who can get it funded. Maybe there are different ways to get content made so that the world we see on-screen looks more like the world we walk through in real life."
Witherspoon, who is currently making her fans wait for more news about 'Legally Blonde 3', founded her company, Hello Sunshine, in 2016. The first couple of movies she made from other production houses were 'Gone Girl' and 'Wild', but with her own company, she picked up 20 new projects.
One of the most recent people to speak about Witherspoon was her BLL co-star, Meryl Streep. "She does everything!" said the vet. "On top of the acting and producing and the books and Draper James, she also carves the pumpkins! She raises three kids. She maintains friendships. I know what it’s like to be in this business and also raise kids. You remember that book I Don't Know How She Does It? That’s Reese!"
And although Witherspoon would not talk about whether she grew up with money, she admitted that she feels it's important for women to know their options and be able to provide for themselves. "There were just . . . there are reasons I’m passionate about a lot of things, you know? I think there’s a time and a place and there will be a moment when I can speak about it. But there’s a reason I’m very passionate about women having their own money."
"I have a lot of friends and I have a lot of personal experiences with women feeling afraid and making life choices because they felt completely paralyzed or in stasis because they didn’t know what to do financially. And you can’t have liberation if you don’t have that."
