Days after pictures of Justin Timberlake holding hands with his ‘Palmer’ co-star Alisha Wainwright began doing rounds, the ‘Sexy Back’ singer took to his Instagram to apologize to his wife Jessica Biel.

Many were left wondering what made the actor/singer issue such a public apology just for holding the hands of his co-star.

A source close to the star has now revealed to HollywoodLife that the singer believes in apologizing when he makes a mistake. And, since his mistake was made in public, he thought the best course of action would be a public apology.

“Justin was always taught that, when you make a mistake, you admit it. And since his mistake was so public, it warranted a public apology. That was all from the heart. Justin’s very upset with himself and he’s taking every step he can to fix this misunderstanding. Jessica is his world, and his family. He will make it right, and this was the first step.”

The former N-Sync singer was spotted holding hands with his ‘Palmer’ co-star Alisha Wainwright at a New Orleans bar on November 21.

The pictures and videos from the evening showed him looking visibly drunk as Alisha rested her hands on his knees. The duo looked extremely cozy, sparking rumors of trouble in Justin and Jessica’s marriage.

After the photos went viral, Justin immediately took to his Instagram to set the record straight and apologized to his wife, who he has been married to since 2017.

In his Instagram post, he wrote, “A few weeks ago, I displayed a strong lapse of judgement—but let me be clear—nothing happened between me and my co-star. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be”.

Justin is currently shooting for 'Palmer', the film is based on the life of a high school footballer who has just been released from prison.
