'Real innovative': Mike Sorrentino mocked for saying he told his wife and mom about sex tape plans
MONMOUTH COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino claims he previously held on to a sex tape in case he ever wanted to sell it for some extra cash.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 'Jersey Shore' star opened up about the "insurance policy" he kept in his office ahead of the release of his memoir, 'Reality Check: Making the Best of the Situation — How I Overcame Addiction, Loss, and Prison', on December 16, 2023.

What did Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino reveal in his interview?
The 41-year-old reality TV star from New Jersey told ET on Tuesday, “There was one. I think it’s been destroyed… the video wasn’t released (because) the offers weren’t good enough.”

He acknowledged that he sought suggestions from his staff on how to price the footage for public release.
Sorrentino also revealed the type of offers he received for his sex tape. “They were a combo of revenue from the sales or streams. It wasn’t as big of an upfront payment as I wanted. It wasn’t ‘Jersey Shore’ money, so I wasn’t going to put myself out there like that,” he said.
Although Sorrentino never opted to make the tape public, he felt compelled to inform his mother and his now-wife, Lauren, of its existence.

He said, “I was down on my luck, and I wanted to soften the fall, and there was that emergency sex tape. I had to tell my mother and Lauren, ‘I have to do this, it’s been here for years.’ And we went down that journey of selling it and we decided not to.”
In addition, Sorrentino, who has been clean for eight years, disclosed to ET that he had spent at least $500,000 on oxycodone and cocaine.
Now, Mike and Lauren are expecting a girl as their third child. The couple is already parents to their son Romeo, who is two years old, and Mia, who is ten months old.

People on X had hilarious reactions to the revelation. Some were disgusted by the idea, while others felt it was warranted for the reality TV star to think the way he did.
He even recalled an "insurance policy" he had set up in case funds ever got too low, which is what he called a sex tape he kept on hand with his team just in case he needed to release it to bolster his bottom line (via @toofab)https://t.co/ImsBHUlbX5
