'The uninterested one': Rams' Andrew Whitworth's daughter goes viral for reading during Super Bowl
On Monday, February 14, Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth appeared as a guest on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, where he discussed special moments from the Super Bowl LVI on Sunday. He also talked about the funny moment involving his youngest daughter, Katherine, who went viral during the game as she was seen reading in the stands, and spoke about his family life with Ellen DeGeneres.
Speaking with the 64-year-old comedian, Whitworth said: “My daughter ended up going viral during the game. She was reading the NFL program, and somebody said, ‘Man, [she] looks kinda disinterested here in the Super Bowl.’” The 40-year-old, who is reportedly the oldest player in the NFL, went on to say, “That's how it goes. She's the uninterested one.”

“I don't even think she told me bye the night before when I was going to the game. I like tried to look for her, and she was watching something on Netflix. She's like, 'Alright, Dad, bye! Just go to the Super Bowl,’” Whitworth added. On Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals with a score of 23-20.
During the Monday show, Whitworth also told DeGeneres that he and his wife Melissa teach their children the importance of giving. He said, “I think to us, we really believe that community service begins at our home, the way we teach our kids — how we teach them to understand to make life more than just about yourself and having the opportunity to do things for other people will bring you a happiness and a satisfaction in your life that nothing else can do.”
“When you do something for someone else and make things more about them than just you, to me that's the greatest thing we can teach them — how to love, how to appreciate people, how to accept people. And that's how we can make our community better is making our kids understand that first and foremost,” Whitworth noted.
Whitworth also made an appearance on the ‘Today’ show Monday after the Sunday win. He stated, “It's just unbelievable to have this moment, and there's so many people you wanted to win it for. It's really cool to enjoy that moment and to be able to look at your family and your friends, and all the people in the organization that have put their heart and souls into it, and just embrace each other.”
Meanwhile, Whitworth’s daughter Katherine’s photo has attracted a lot of attention online with a user tweeting, “So so funny but if you have a Reader child, its like being on the cell phone all the time.” “Love this. With all the technology and I world, be a reader!” another user said. The third user wrote: “My teacher librarian heart is proud! What a great example of a reader to all!! Teachers are smiling across America.”

It doesn’t matter what she is reading. When you have a reader child they will literally read anything.
