Till Lindemann, the lead vocalist and lyricist of German dance-metal band Rammstein has contracted the novel coronavirus and has been admitted to intensive care in a Berlin hospital, according to multiple reports.

The diagnosis comes a little over 10 days after he performed with his other band, his namesake Lindemann, at a concert in Moscow, reports German outlet Bild.

After returning to native Germany, Lindemann is said to have been hospitalized with an extremely high fever, following which he tested positive for Covid-19. He was subsequently placed into intensive care and quarantined.

Lindemann, 57, was reportedly in critical condition initially but has since recovered and is now feeling better. His life is not in danger currently.

As of Friday, March 27, Germany had more than 47,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, making the country the fifth-worst country in the world behind the U.S., China, Italy, and Spain.

However, Germany has the lowest death rate by far compared to the other countries on that list. In Italy, 9.5 percent of the people who have tested positive for the virus have died; in Spain, it's 8.4 percent; in China, it's 4.02 percent; in the U.S. it's a relatively lower 1.5 percent.

In Germany, it's 0.4 percent. The biggest reason for this disparity, according to experts, is the work the country put in the early days of the outbreak to track, test, and contain infection clusters, as well as factors such as the age of those infected and the timing of the outbreak.

The number of tests carried out jumped from 35,000 in the first week of March to 100,000 in the second, according to Germany’s medical association, though experts are warning that the worst is not over yet.

Lindemann is not the only musician to test positive for the novel coronavirus either and is one amongst a long list of names to have contracted Covid-19.

MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) previously reported that David Bryan, the keyboardist for Bon Jovi, had tested positive as well and had confirmed the news on social media.

"I just got my results back today and tested positive for coronavirus," he wrote. "I've been sick for a week and feeling better each day," he wrote. The Tony Award-winning composer also asked his fans not to worry while he updated them that he had been doing much better than before."

"Please don’t be afraid!!! It’s the flu, not the plague. I've have been quarantined for a week and will for another week. And when I feel better I’ll get tested again to make sure I’m free of this nasty virus."

"Please help out each other. This will be over soon... with the help of every American!!" There is no doubt that the news left all the fans surprised and everyone was quick to drop in words of motivation and their prayers."

Worldwide, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 has crossed half a million, while the number of deaths stands close to 25,000.
