'Lazy but livable': Internet divided as Rachel McAdams flaunts her unshaven armpits for photoshoot
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rachel McAdams is showcasing her unaltered, unretouched natural beauty in a photoshoot that celebrates her body. The 'Mean Girls' actress, 44, flaunted her unshaven armpits in a photoshoot with Bustle that was released on Tuesday, April 18. The actress and mother of two reportedly asked that her photos be edited as minimally as possible, as per the online women's magazine.
McAdams is currently promoting the film adaptation of 'Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret' by Judy Blume. McAdams and her longtime partner, screenwriter Jamie Linden, 42 have a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.

'This is my body'
In the interview, McAdams said, "With this shoot, I’m wearing latex underwear. But I’ve had two children. This is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back out to the world. It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone."
In one picture, the actress can be seen lying on a red couch with long underarm hair. The hair was also evident in a different image of McAdams posing in a white garment with no sleeves that clung to her body.
McAdams acknowledged in an in-depth interview with Bustle that she still feels "guilty" about taking a two-year hiatus from Hollywood during the peak of her career in the mid-2010s to "stay sane." The actress confessed her sabbatical made her question if she was "throwing it all away" as she considered her shocking decision to decline leading roles in 'The Devil Wears Prada,' 'Casino Royale,' 'Mission: Impossible III,' 'Iron Man,' and 'Get Smart.'
The Academy Award nominee said she sometimes regrets passing up a role, but she always steps back and acknowledges that the part was suited for the other person. The mother-of-two admitted that she was initially unaware of the "reason" behind her brief break from acting. As she struggled with negotiating fame at an early age, the 'Disobedience' actress told Bustle that it had taken her years to realize what she had been doing "intuitively."
McAdams offers advice to her teenage self on growing up in a video that was uploaded to Bustle's YouTube page, including the choice to start shaving her legs. She began, "Well, I’m going to give you the advice my — your mother — gave me. "'Once you start, you can never stop,’ and I remember rolling my eyes about that, and thinking, ‘Ugh, that’s not the fun answer,’ but it’s so true. Life is long once, shaving is intense, but if you’re gonna go ahead with it anyway, watch the ankle bones, the shins," McAdams suggested.
'More of this please!'
The Internet is divided over McAdams' bold photoshoot showcasing her underarm hair, which stirred up the conversation on social media. One group of social media users took to Twitter to express their disgust over the actress' attempt to be natural and unedited. One such user tweeted, "It's just lazy but livable. If she doesn't shave her legs, then that's just gross. If it means hairy nethers, I'm cool going ol' skool as well." A second Twitter user wrote, "She probably smells like aged mustard and Grandma’s plastic furniture covered spare room I’m guessing." A third person chimed in, "These people will do anything for the promotion. Anything." Other vile comments included: "Must have been feeling like a man that week." Ewwww she’s gross" "UK women don't shave" "It's not always nasty!" "Stop trying to make armpit hair happen!"
