'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' star Rachel Bloom welcomes her first child, a daughter, with husband Dan Gregor
Rachel Bloom, the co-creator and star of the internationally-acclaimed musical comedy series ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’, revealed on Wednesday on Instagram that she gave birth to her first child.
Bloom wrote, “She’s here. She’s home,” alongside a photo of herself and her newborn daughter.
“Having a baby in the NICU during a pandemic while a dear friend was in the hospital 3,000 miles away made this by far the most emotionally intense week of mine and Gregor’s lives,” she said referring to musician Adam Schlesinger, who, in a terrible twist of fate, succumbed to complications from coronavirus on Wednesday.
“As the lovely doctors and nurses helped my daughter get some fluid out of her lungs, we watched the maternity ward around us change hourly to prepare for the upcoming COVID storm. The whole family is now home safe and I am just so grateful to all of our medical workers. From those in our NICUs to those directly helping COVID patients like Adam, they are sacrificing so much to fight on the front lines of this war. Thank you thank you thank you,” she further added, implying that Bloom, when she shared this, was perhaps unaware of Schlesinger’s death.
“Brb, gonna go get to know the person who came out of my vagina,” she concluded.
Bloom and husband Dan Gregor got married in 2015. Gregor is a producer and writer who penned three episodes of ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ and was an executive story editor on ‘How I Met Your Mother’. He also wrote the Robert Downey Jr.-starrer ‘Dolittle’.
Bloom revealed she was pregnant at the Creative Arts Emmys. After winning her first Emmy, she told reporters, “More fun stuff. I have a tour right now called, ‘What Am I Going To Do with My Life Now?’ because the question I get asked is, what are you going to do with your life now?” She added, “And also, I’m pregnant! So that’s what’s next for me. I’m three months pregnant and I get to tell my child she was with me when this happened, which is pretty f**king cool.”
Bloom did not share her baby’s name or her actual date of birth.
