NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hollywood star Rachel Bilson clapped back at ‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg after being targeted for her comments on judging someone based on their sexual history, especially men in their 40s.

The 42-year-old actress candidly discussed the “sexual history” of some men on her podcast, 'Broad Ideas'.

In an episode of the podcast, Bilson mentioned that for a man in his 40s to have had few sexual partners is weird. This didn’t sit well with Goldberg, who took the chance to discuss Bilson’s comments on ‘The View’.

While Bilson later retracted her statements, saying that her comments weren’t “fair,” Goldberg's critique of her remarks on ‘The View’ left her “concerned.”

Rachel Bilson and Whoopi Goldberg get into a heated debacle

The Hollywood star while speaking about the subject of sex on the podcast, revealed that for her to see a man in the 40s with few sexual partners wasn’t too appealing.

She told the podcast host, Olivia Allen, “This is gonna sound so judgmental, but if a dude is in his 40s and he [has] only slept with four women… but it all depends, maybe he’s been in a decade [-long] relationships, totally respectable.”

According to US Magazine, Bilson doubled down that she found middle-aged men who have had few sexual partners weird. However, she later retracted her statements, stating that it wasn't fair to judge someone's sexual history.

Goldberg, however, had taken note of Bilson’s comments and brought it up on ‘The View’.

Goldberg slammed her and said, “I’m sorry, I think it’s very odd that you’re concerned that he’s had sexual partners — any sexual partners. Why is it your business?”

She added, “Listen, men, traditionally, were taught to have many sexual partners. That’s how it was. Men could go and do whatever they wanted to do, and women were not supposed to.”

Goldberg also said, “Now, that has been shifting, and young women have been bitching about, you know, 'Why are you telling me what I should be [doing?]' Now, it’s happening [the other way around] and you’re mad. I don’t understand.”

Rachel Bilson responds to Whoopi Goldberg’s criticisms passionately

After hearing about ‘The View’ host’s critique of her words, the ‘Gossip Girl’ star said to EW magazine, “I want to say that I've been a fan of Whoopi's for a very long time, so when I saw the tagline that she criticized something I said, I, of course, was concerned.”

She further expanded on the matter and said about her podcast, “We make it a very safe open place to discuss anything, and we were just talking.”

She noted, “I have the power to edit our podcast, and I chose to keep the conversation as a whole in, because a lot of the time in life, you say something, and maybe you have a minute and you reflect on it.”

Bilson’s co-host on the podcast, Olivia Allen, also responded to Goldberg’s outburst and said, “The fact that Rachel didn't edit to make it present a certain way is a true reflection of what actual conversations in real life are.”

She further added, “That's one of our values, and I think that if we are going to continue to do that, people should listen to the whole episode before passing judgment.”
