Queen banning Harry and Meghan from using 'Sussex Royal' termed harsh: 'She still goes to church with Andrew'

Although the British monarch is currently working with senior officials to determine in what capacity the couple will be allowed to use the brand, it is understood that the pair will have to rebrand when it comes to Sussex Royal.

Social media was split after reports that the Queen has banned Harry and Meghan Markle from using the word "royal" that famously graces their 'Sussex Royal' branding.

After their Instagram account, which uses the name Sussex Royal, became popular, Harry and Meghan set up their website by the same name, spending tens of thousands of pounds to acquire the domain name. They also planned to register Sussex Royal as a global trademark for a range of items including clothing, stationery, books and teaching materials. They were also on their way to set up a new charitable organization: Sussex Royal, the Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, British monarch is currently working with senior officials to determine in what capacity the couple will be allowed to use the brand, following their decision to step down as working members of the royal family last month, and it is understood that the pair will have to rebrand as they won't be allowed the usage of the word "royal".

The latest decision from the Queen drew mixed reactions from people on the internet. While some backed Harry's grandmother for taking away the couple ability to cash in on the "royal" branding post-Megxit, others thought that the move was too harsh, given that Prince Andrew — fired by his mother from all royal engagements and stripped of an annual salary last year after he publicly discussed his ties to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in a BBC interview — was still allowed to retain his HRH title.

"I find myself admiring the British monarchy when it stands its ground. The attempt to monetize your royalty while being disloyal to the royal family—is just grotesque," one wrote, while another added, "Good for the Queen. Harry and Meghan have no right to cash in on the #SussexRoyal brand. They don't care about anything but themselves and apparently have little regard for the Queen. @RoyalCentral"

Putting her own pun on the obvious, a third tweeted: "I have a feeling that right now someone at the head office of H&M is sitting there writing a letter that starts with 'I’m incredibly sorry but H&M is already taken'.. @hm @hmusa #harryandmegan #SussexRoyal"

Prince Andrew showed up in the comments quite a few times, posted by people who supported Megxit. "So the Queen has banned her grandson from using the brand #SussexRoyal because he had the audacity to leave to protect his family from abuse. Meanwhile, she still goes to church every week with her son who’s accused of raping and trafficking a 17 year old (sic). Priorities," one of them tweeted.

There were also those who didn't think losing the Sussex Royal brand name would be such a huge deal, especially for Meghan, who was also a United Nations ambassador in addition to being a former TV actress.

"Don't people realise (sic) that prior #SussexRoyal title Maghan (sic) Markle was a far more active and respected public profile with a net worth of 6 million dollars and occupying influential positions like being UN ambassador. Sussex Royal title is nothing compared to her titles," the user wrote.
