Peacock will soon be premiering the revival of the 80s sitcom. The series will see Punky as a single mother of three who meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system. The sequel ‘Punky Brewster’ will be a continuation of the 80s series, with the original cast reprising their roles. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of its release.

‘Punky Brewster’ sequel will debut on February 25 on Peacock only. The revival series will have 10 episodes. 

Plot 

The official synopsis for ‘Punky Brewster’ reads, “A follow-up series to the 1980s sitcom about a young foster child named Punky. Now she's grown up with kids of her own.” While the original series saw Punky as a bright young girl raised by her foster father, the forthcoming series will feature as an adult, who is trying to bring her life back on track.

Soleil Moon Frye will be reprising her role as Punky Brewster in the revival series. The American actress was eight years old when she first featured on the NBC sitcom. After the series concluded, she continued her career in television by making guest appearances in other shows. She was seen in The WB sitcom ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ as Roxie King from 1998 to 2003. In 2011, she released her first book titled ‘Happy Chaos: From Punky to Parenting and My Perfectly Imperfect Adventures in Between’. Frye’s film credits include ‘Bratz: Passion 4 Fashion- Diamondz’, ‘Sonny Boy’ and ‘The Girls’ Room’ among others.

Cherie Johnson will return as Punky’s best friend Cherie in ‘Punky Brewster’ sequel. She is best known for her role as Laura Winslow in ‘Family Matters’. Johnson has acted in television series such as ‘Eve’, ‘The Parkers’, ‘Good Behavior’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’. Her notable works in films include movies such as ‘Diamond Cobra vs The White Fox’, ‘Signed, Sealed & Delivered’ and ‘Crush’. 

 Quinn Copeland

Child actress Quinn Copeland from Forth Worth, Texas will be playing the role of the foster kid Izzy in the ‘Punky Brewster’ revival series. She has previously featured as Lulu in ‘Waitress the Musical’.

Multiple directors have helmed ‘Punky Brewster’ including Jonathan Judge, Jody Margolin Hahn’, ‘Kelly Park’ and ‘Katy Garretson’. Meanwhile, it is produced by Jordan Black with Soleil Moon Frye as one of the executive producers.

The official trailer of ‘Punky Brewster’ follows Punky, who is shown to be a single mother and professional photographer, who is barely keeping it together trying to raise three children. The rest of the video follows Punky as she navigates life in the presence of the foster kid and new boyfriend.
