Why is 'Prodigal Son' Season 2 Episode 7 not airing? Here's what to expect when show returns with 'Face Value'
After airing without fail for six weeks straight since its season 2 debut, Fox's crime thriller 'Prodigal Son' is finally going for its first hiatus. So if you were among those to tune into your screens at the designated 9 pm time slot, you might be disappointed to see there's no new episode of the Michael Sheen starrer this week, on February 23. Worry not, Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) and his notorious father's complicated bond shall return to Fox in just another short week's time; meanwhile, read on to find out why the show isn't airing this week.
According to TV listings and schedule, instead of the upcoming Episode 7 of Season 2, 'Prodigal Son' will be airing a repeat telecast of its Season 2 premiere, Episode 1: 'It's All In The Execution'. The reason most likely is that the rest of the episodes weren't filmed in time before the raging pandemic hit and with Covid-19 guidelines in place, production needs more time to churn out the latter half of the season.

The other common reason shows go on breaks is to spread out their 22-24 episode season over the span of a solid few months that they air on TV and hence, random breaks in the middle help things pan out evenly. But on the plus side, a repeat telecast means familiarizing yourself with older episodes of this season, and fans will testify, there's no getting enough of the prodigal son or his infamous serial killing father.
The good news is, when 'Prodigal Son' Season 2 finally returns to Fox on Tuesday, March 2, with Episode 7, two big names are going to be a part of the show. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alan Cummings are hopping aboard the cast in the episode titled 'Face Value', which sees "Malcolm, still reeling from the latest events with Ainsley, focuses on the next case, in which a famous plastic surgeon is murdered. Meanwhile, Martin gets a new job working in the infirmary with resident MD Dr. Vivian Capshaw (Zeta-Jones). Then, Jessica is surprised to learn her younger sister is in town."
Meanwhile, this week, treat yourself to the season premiere where "Bright finds his personal life in disarray after his sister's shocking actions in the Season One finale. Now, he has to "take care" of her and protect his mother, Jessica, from a secret that could tear the family apart all over again. To distract himself, Malcolm takes on a new case and must find the killer behind a recent beheading in the city... and the only person he can turn to for help with the case is his father. Meanwhile, Martin returns to Claremont to a surprise new roommate (guest star Michael Chernus) and JT faces discrimination while on the job in an encore."
'Prodigal Son' Season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on FOX.
