The couple who got married in October 2018, is expected to become parents to their first child in 2021. It will be the first grandchild for Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the duke and duchess of York. Their older daughter Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle in July.
Shortly before her private ceremony at the Windsor Castle, it was reported that Beatrice had a great plan to boost Britain's morale that was down owing to the coronavirus pandemic — an even bigger wedding for her and Mozzi. "As the granddaughter of the Queen, it seems unfair that Bea would have had to hide her nuptials from the public when her younger sister Eugenie did not have to. Eugenie's wedding was televised and watched by three million viewers in the UK alone," the insider said at the time.
"Beatrice and Eugenie's profiles and workload will increase after the departure of Harry and Meghan. Beatrice wants to show the public that she will never shirk her civic duties. She wants the public to see her as an individual, and not to be judged for the mistakes of her father," the source said pointing towards the earlier reports that claimed that the 32-year-old’s father's scandal may force her to have a low-key marriage in a "secluded castle or overseas".
Andrew has been engulfed in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. He was also fired by the Queen after he defied the palace's advice and went public with his links to disgraced billionaire pedophile. After US prosecutors accused him of failing to assist their investigation into Epstein and his former confidante Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew reportedly met the Queen at Balmoral for emergency talks in thepast few months.
However, the prince's lawyers said that there was no need to make a big deal about the trip, insisting he has repeatedly offered to help with the case. "The Queen and Andrew will have lots to discuss. So much has come out over the summer,'' an insider told the Sun at the time. “The Queen wants to be kept informed and she will not be back at Windsor until early October.”
The Department of Justice in the US has officially asked for the allowance of Prince Andrew to be officially interrogated to give evidence in the investigation in a request to the Home Office in April. The 'Mutual Legal Assistance' (MLA) application bypassed Buckingham Palace and If it's approved, it could mean the royal could be summoned to a British court to give evidence under oath as a witness if he refused to cooperate.
