The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William played a major role in Prince Andrew being sacked from his royal duties.

Prince William, 37, is reportedly not a fan of his uncle Prince Andrew and the Jeffrey Epstein controversy surrounding him. According to the Times of London, 59-year-old Andrew was stripped of his royal duties by his mother Queen Elizabeth II, who had felt 'hoodwinked' by Andrew's terrible and disastrous interview with BBC over his associations to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

As per sources, Prince William was very actively involved in the decision to have the Duke of York relieved from his duties at the Buckingham Palace. A source shared, "William is becoming more and more involved in decisions about the institution [monarchy] and he’s not a huge fan of his uncle Andrew".

Another source added that "William thinks the right thing happened". Sources also shared that the Queen feels very 'aggrieved' at claims that she had given her approval for the interview. "There is no way the Queen and her private secretary wrote a ‘yes’ on a memo that fully explained what was proposed," a source revealed.

"Andrew had a son-to-mother conversation, letting her know that he was planning to address the controversy, but without going into any details. What should have happened was the full palace process, where the interview proposal was placed under all the scrutiny and due diligence that usually takes place," the source shared.

Sources also revealed that the Queen is 'privately supportive' of Prince Andrew but is 'deeply frustrated'. The Queen has also canceled plans to throw Prince Andrew a lavish 60th birthday bash and will instead mark February 19 with a small and intimate family dinner. Till now, it is only Prince Andrew's ex Sarah Ferguson who has defended him and said she was 'supportive and proud of this giant of a principled man'.
