Queen and Prince Philip elated as George, Charlotte and Louis send them homemade card on 73rd wedding anniversary
Prince Philip and the Queen were seen looking delighted as they read a homemade card sent to them by their great-grandchildren. While families across the country are separated by the coronavirus lockdown, small things make the biggest difference. The image was shared by Buckingham Palace to mark the 73rd wedding anniversary of Prince Philip and the Queen.
The photo shows the couple very proudly looking at the card that was made for them by their three great-grandchildren: Prince George,7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2. The three children reportedly spent many hours creating the colorful greeting card and had carefully colored in a large number 73 on the front. They also decorated it with spots of red, blue, yellow, green and purple. The young children have not been able to see their great grandparents for many weeks but the card was taken to Windsor Castle where Prince Philip and the Queen are living, earlier this week by the royal postal service.
When the couple opened the card, it was hard for them to hide how they felt and looked delighted at the thoughtful gift. The Queen was seen sporting the same sapphire and diamond brooch that she had worn for their honeymoon photoshoot in 1947. She had been given the piece by Sir James Laing & Sons Limited and the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company Limited when she had launched the British Princess oil tanker. Prince Philip and the Queen's sofa is comfortable rather than grand and is seen full of cream and red cushions which compliments the gold tasseled curtains. A low glass table is seen in front of them with a whole bunch of cards from well-wishers to congratulate them. Prince Philip is seen smartly dressed in a pair of grey trousers and a blazer jacket. The Queen on the other hand is seen sporting a pale blue double wool crepe dress designed by Stewart Parvin.
Many social media users commented on the picture of the couple reading their cards and praised the pair. One such user shared, "No, she will never ever retire. One thing is clear, HRH has always been driven by duty, above all things. And she will continue to do her duty for the rest of her natural life. Remarkable." Another user commented, "nothing better than handmade presents from kids. You can feel all the love in every bit of glue and glitter." Yet another shared, "beautiful photo, two loving great grandparents, feeling the love from the children! Enjoy your anniversary and thank you both for your dedication. Xxxx."

To many more," wrote another well-wisher. Yet another user who echoed the same sentiments chimed in, "I recall reading that HMTQ’s receiving homemade gifts & trinkets at Xmas too. I’m sure this card was well-received, a keepsake for the History books. A Card from a future Heir to the longest-serving Monarch. Happy Anniversary to an 73 yrs & wow, what a legacy."
