'Thank goodness!': Book reveals Queen's response when told Meghan Markle was skipping Prince Philip funeral
Tom Bower's new book alleges that Queen Elizabeth II was rather glad that her grandaughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, didn't attend Prince Philip's funeral last year in April amid the brewing family tension. According to the reports, the Duchess of Sussex couldn't attend the funeral as she was advised to stay back in Montecito and not travel by her doctors as it was not advisable to take a 10-hour long flight in her then-state of pregnancy. Earlier reports claimed that Meghan tried her best to be with Prince Harry but had to ultimately skip the funeral.
Now, the new information reveals that the Queen was rather happy that Meghan didn't come to Prince Philip's funeral. This juicy claim comes from the pages of Tom Bower’s new book, 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors,' as it says that the Queen, while talking to one of her aides inside of Buckingham Palace, said, "Thank goodness Meghan is not coming." The book is serialized exclusively in The Sun which explains the observations made before the Queen left for the funeral service at St George's Chapel.

Bower writes, "On April 9, 2021, Prince Philip died. His funeral was set for April 17. Harry arrived in London just before the service. The mood was somber. Daily, the media extolled Philip's remarkable life and devotion to the country. The Duke had planned a simple funeral at St George's Chapel, Windsor." He writes that the weather forecast was outstanding but the only factor that seemed out of place was Prince Harry's relationship with his father and brother, and how he would cope with the same. Bower continues, "In Windsor Castle, the Queen was preparing to face the public on one of the saddest days of her life. Philip had been her rock for the previous 70 years. To comply with Covid-19 restrictions, she would grieve alone inside the chapel. 'Thank goodness Meghan is not coming,' the monarch said."
Tom Bower continues to bash Meghan Markle
Tom Bower, an investigative journalist known for writing unauthorized biographies of the likes of Boris Johnson, Richard Branson, and Robert Maxwell, told GB News earlier this year, "I have found out things which are really quite extraordinary about her (Meghan). And I think that the public perception of her will be either confirmed or outraged or in any case, it'll be a great surprise."
He continued, "It has turned out to be...a very, very hard slog because people were pretty reluctant to speak and she and her lawyers had done very well to keep people silent, but I got through [to] enough. The victims are keen to talk and they have spoken. And it's a really gripping story.”

While Prince Harry attended the funeral on April 17, 2021, Meghan paid her tributes online. Moreover, this was the first time that Prince Harry had faced his family after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in which they accused the royal family of highly-disputed transgressions such as racism towards Meghan and their unborn first child Archie. This new revelation contradicts a previous statement made by Meghan's friend to Daily Mail where she said that "She (Meghan Markle) said the Queen understands her absence and would want her to stay safe and healthy for the baby."
