Harry discussed Megxit with Meghan even before marriage as he was 'deeply unhappy for a long time', says book
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “discussed Megxit before they got married”, a new book is set to claim. The book will also claim they left the royal family because Harry was “deeply unhappy for a long time”, sources said.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals in March to become financially independent. The couple is currently living in Los Angeles, California, with their son Archie. They have rented Tyler Perry's $18 million mansion in the city. Sources have now revealed how their much-anticipated biography ‘Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family’, which will release online in August, is set to “explore the couple's journey” to their decision.
A source told The Sun Online, “The book will explore the journey that Meghan and Harry went through in coming to the conclusion that they did. It will make clear that far from it being a snap decision that they took a long time to make it. The seeds of Megxit were sown before they even got married. The truth is that Harry had been deeply unhappy for a long time. And he and Meghan openly discussed going in a different direction well before they got married.”
This comes after an earlier report claimed that the biography, written by Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, will clarify things and smash the notion that Meghan was behind the decision of leaving the palace. A publishing insider said in May, “That word ‘Megxit’ in particular has always angered Prince Harry. It gives the impression that the decision to walk away from the Royal Family was Meghan’s. The reality is Harry drove that decision. The book will make that clear and explain why it had to happen. The truth is Harry had been unhappy for a long, long time.”
“He wanted to move in the direction that they did and had been considering it for more than a year. Meghan supported Harry’s decision. But there was more than one occasion where she asked him if he was certain it was what he wanted. nd she always made it clear she would support him in whatever he did,” the source added.
Meanwhile, co-author Scobie, who has gone with the pair on a number of royal tours, recently told The Heir Pod that the story consisted of twists and turns that “even the Sussexes didn't expect”.
“This project started about two years ago, and there have been twists and turns that no one expected. This is something no one expected. I don't even think Harry and Meghan, who by their own account struggled with the realities of the situation, expected things to turn out the way they did,” the writer said.
Continuing further, Scobie explained that the biography will give a real detail of the pair’s story. He said: “I've been on so many engagements and around them as much as possible, and spoken to so many people in their lives, so no stone has been left unturned. I've seen the couple remain faithful in their own beliefs and stand strong in the face of adversities which have been publicly played out in the press, and I would like to think this tells the definitive version of their lives together.”
It has been said that access to the unpublished biography has been given to the friends of Meghan and Harry by the authors along with the Sussexes themselves.
