In the new AppleTV+ show on mental health, 'The Me You Can't See', Prince Harry opened up about his own struggle with mental health for years, as he felt 'trapped' at the palace and took to drinking and drugs in his 30s. While talking to Oprah Winfrey about how Meghan encountered suicidal thoughts, Harry said that he did not want to lose another woman in his life.

He feared for Meghan's well-being, he says, as he was afraid of history repeating itself. "It’s incredibly triggering to potentially lose another woman in my life. Like, the list is growing. And it all comes back to the same people, the same business model, the same industry," he shared, according to Daily Mail.

Was Princess Diana 'chased to death'?

There have been long-lasting theories around Princess Diana's tragic death, barely a year after her divorce from Prince Charles. It is most widely believed that her fatal car crash was a result of a wild paparazzi chase as photgraphers wanted to capture a glimpse of Princess Diana with her romantic partner Dodi Fayed.

While opening up about the struggles Meghan faced in their relationship for being a part of the royal family, Harry said, "history was repeating itself. My mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationship with someone who wasn’t White. And now look what’s happened."

"Family members have said: Just play the game, and your life will be easier. But I’ve got a hell of a lot of my mum in me,” he poignantly said.

Harry took to drinking and drugs

Admitting how therapy has helped him heal in the past few years, Prince Harry shared how he became dependent on drugs and alcohol at a point to 'numb' his pain and anxiety. "For me, therapy has equipped me to be able to take on anything," he acknowledged.

While his wife Meghan was having suicidal thoughts during her first pregnancy, she did not receive any significant help and support from the royals, the royal couple had said earlier. Now, Harry has claimed that his family tried to stop him and Meghan from leaving while she was suicidal. His earnest requests for help were 'met with total silence and neglect', he recounted.

"I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever, it is just got met with total silence, total neglect. We spent four years trying to make it work. We did everything that we possibly could to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job. But Meghan was struggling," Harry shared. According to Daily Mail, Meghan's incessant scrutinization by the British media, along with racist remarks, reminded Harry of the painful memories of his mother's deathdeath

'I am bawling like a baby'

Twitter users reacted emotionally to Prince Harry opening up about the darkest phases of his life. "I just watched the first episode of #Oprah & #PrinceHarry's docuseries #TheMeYouCantSee and I am bawling like a baby. There are so many people in pain this project will help. Please watch. Bless you Oprah, Harry, Lady Gaga & everyone in this for being so brave & open- so raw," a Twitter user wrote.

"I'm crying & smiling in hearing Harry speak about the process he's gone through to get here. He is a good man. I wish him all the best," read an excerpt from another tweet. A third user tweeted, ""I know I’m not gonna get from my family what I’m gonna need” Prince Harry could not be any clearer about why he had to leave the UK. He had to save Meghan and Archie."
