Prince Harry blasts British media for 'ruthless campaign' against Meghan Markle as they sue tabloid that published private letter
The Duke of Sussex has had enough of the British Press and it's "ruthless" treatment that his wife Meghan Markle has been subjected to over the past year.
Prince Harry released a statement on October 1 which read, "Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences – a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son."
He added that he and Meghan often sport a brave face but the entire process has been very painful for the new parents. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be taking legal action against the Mail which they started on Sunday. According to a spokesperson from Schillings who is representing the pair, the legal proceedings have been initiated against the Mail.
"We have initiated legal proceedings against the Mail on Sunday, and its parent company Associated Newspapers, over the intrusive and unlawful publication of a private letter written by the Duchess of Sussex, which is part of a campaign by this media group to publish false and deliberately derogatory stories about her, as well as her husband," the spokesperson revealed.
"Given the refusal of Associated Newspapers to resolve this issue satisfactorily, we have issued proceedings to redress this breach of privacy, infringement of copyright and the aforementioned media agenda", the spokesperson continued.
Prince Harry also shared that he has been "a silent witness" to his wife's personal suffering. He also spoke about how the media outlet has been doing more positive pieces which "exposes the double standards of this specific press pack that has vilified her almost daily for the past nine months."
He also spoke of his mother, the late Princess Diana and said that he fears that history is repeating itself. "I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditized to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces," he shared.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their son baby Archie just finished up a ten-day tour in Africa.
