MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry reportedly planned to interview personalities like Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Mark Zuckerberg on a Spotify podcast before his and Meghan Markle’s £15 million ($19M) deal with the streaming giant came to an end and it was announced that the 'Archetypes' podcast would not be renewed for a new season.

The Duke of Sussex allegedly wanted to speak to Trump, Putin and Zuckerberg about their upbringing and childhood traumas, inside sources told Bloomberg. They mentioned that Harry began discussing and pitching his ideas to multiple producers and production companies that he wanted to speak to the aforementioned figures about their childhood experiences and how they became the men that they are at present.

The Prince, the keynote speaker, spoke about the legacy and inspiration of the South African anti-apartheid leader who spent 27 years in a remote South African prison before becoming the president and first black leader of the country. The 37-year-old Duke of Sussex attended the event with his wife Meghan Markle.

What else did Prince Harry want to include in his podcast?

In addition to plans of speaking to Trump, Putin and Zuckerberg about their childhood traumas and experiences, Harry also allegedly wanted make a show centered on fatherhood. He even wished to create a show which would deal with major societal conversations in each episode, from climate change to religion. He also expressed his desire to bring Pope Francis as a guest for the latter.

The revelations about Harry’s alleged pitch came after his and Markle’s audio production company Archewell Audio released a joint statement with Spotify and announced that they had “mutually agreed to part ways” and were proud of the series they “made together.” Insiders allege that the practicality of interviewing the guests Harry suggested raised questions in his podcast team as majority of the mentioned personalities are never big about opening up on their childhood traumas.

Back in January Spotify executive Bill Simmons slammed Prince Harry, saying he was “so embarrassed” to be sharing the same platform with him. “What does he do? It’s one of those things where it’s like, what’s your talent,” he asked at the time. “Why are we listening to you? So you were born in a royal family and then you left…You sell documentaries and podcasts, and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family, and you just complain about them,” Simmons argued.

‘This cannot be real’

As the information about Prince Harry’s interview plans made the rounds online, several social media users took to Twitter to react to the revelation. “What?! This cannot be real!” one wrote. “I don’t see either Trump or Putin sitting down specifically with Harry either,” added another. “No way would I be able to listen to his voice,” a third commented.

One said, “It’s not as if it was even a ground breaking idea. The 3 peoples mentioned, have given many interviews previously and have discussed their lives & experiences growing up. No wonder the idea was canned,” while another quipped, “Wow the delusion is stronger than I ever would think possible.”
