Prince Harry mocks Prince William and Kate for having uniform-wearing nannies for their children: 'This isn’t Mary Poppins'

While many expect Harry to follow his brother's footsteps for parenting little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor alongside Meghan, a royal commentator says the 34-year-old has refused to do so.

There has reportedly been a rift between Prince William and Prince Harry ever since the Duke of Sussex married Meghan Markle, before which the royal brothers used to share a close bond. While many expect Harry to follow his brother's footsteps for parenting little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor alongside Meghan, a royal commentator says the 34-year-old has refused to do so, International Business Times reports.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie told Yahoo's Royal Box that Prince Harry shot down the idea of hiring someone like Prince William and Kate’s current child caretaker Maria Teresa Borrallo, who wears a uniform when on duty. “One of the things that Harry said was, ‘I don’t want a woman in a uniform around my child. This isn’t Mary Poppins, we’re going to have a normal household,’” according to Scobie.

Nannies employed by the palace are required to dedicate their lives to royal children, according to royal commentator Dick Arbiter. “When you become a royal nanny, you are for all intents and purposes giving up your own existence," he explained. “The nannies that looked after William and Harry were either widows or never married, the same with the Queen’s nannies. So there is as well trying to find the right person who is going to fit the mold, be discreet, who will put your child’s wellbeing at the center of their existence, but be happy to give up a huge part of their own life.”

Meghan has reportedly replaced three nannies since she gave birth to Archie in May. However, she's believed to be happy with her latest recruit. “Meghan is a very hands-on mum, but the new nanny is a godsend,” a source told The Sun. “She is extremely professional, with a number of nannying years under her belt, and has fitted into the family really well. She’s great with little Archie and just adores him. Harry and Meghan are very happy with her.” Archie's newest nanny accompanied Prince Harry and Meghan on their recent vacation. She will mostly join the pair once again when they take Archie on his first royal tour in the fall.
