'It’s not meant as attack': Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still 'hope' to reconcile with royal family
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's constant revelations in the explosive documentary series 'Harry & Meghan' has sent shockwaves globally, it appears that the couple is still hopeful of reconciling with the royal family.
A source has told HollywoodLife exclusively about how the former royals actually feel about the tell-all documentary series and how they wish the royal family would perceive it. "They want everyone, including Harry’s family, to understand why they did what they did," the insider shared. "This is about shining a light on how the institution operates and why it needs to change, that is where their focus has always been. The hope is that this message will get through and eventually lead to healing with the whole family, including William."

Meghan and Harry also emphasized that the series is not supposed to be taken as an "attack" on anyone. "It’s not meant as an attack on William, or the rest of the family," the source added.
The Duke of Sussex talked about the “wedge” that was driven between him and his older brother during the second half of the six-episode-long series that launched on Thursday, December 15. Harry revealed that Prince William raised his voice at him at the Sandringham House on January 13, 2020. "It became very clear very quickly that goal was not up for discussion or debate," he said while referring to his and Meghan’s negotiations with the royal family. "It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father [King Charles III] say things that just simply weren’t true and my grandmother [Queen Elizabeth II] you know, quietly sit there, and sort of take it all in."
Part two of the docuseries revealed a ton about the royal family that has been kept under the drapes for a long time. The father-of-two claimed that he was unaware of the Kensington Palace press office releasing a joint statement that slammed his claims that William had “bullied” Harry and Meghan out of the family. "I couldn’t believe it. No one had asked me. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that," Prince Harry stated. "Within four hours, they were happy to lie to protect my brother, and yet for three years, they were never willing, to tell the truth to protect us," he shared.
The finale found Harry and his wife renouncing their royal titles as Senior Royals of the institution in January 2020. They released a joint statement on Instagram and revealed that they want to “become financially independent.” “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the caption read. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
