The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed by a palace insider for 'sniping' at the Queen and other royals.

The couple had shared an 'update' on their personal website where they claimed that the Queen had no 'jurisdiction' over the word 'Royal' and had said that the monarch and government could not prevent them from using the word while abroad. The statement also seemingly referred to other royals including Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie.

The couple had earlier said that they would stop using their Sussex Royal brand after they step down as senior royals on March 31 on Friday.

They claimed that they had been treated differently from the other members of the royal family and went on to remind people that Harry remains 6th in line to the throne and an HRH by birth. A royal insider slammed the couple's statement and said, "Let's just hope they feel they have got whatever they want to get out of their system."

Another insider spoke to Daily Mail and said that the couple seemed to have 'lost all sense of perspective'. "It was their decision to do this and the family is clearly trying their best to facilitate it. But it inevitably requires sacrifices on both sides and the Sussexes need to be rather more gracious about it. Sniping from the sidelines doesn't help anyone," the insider shared.

Prince Harry and Meghan's statement read, "While there is not any jurisdiction by the Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word 'Royal' overseas, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use 'Sussex Royal' or any iteration of the word 'Royal' in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020."

They believe that their attempts to try and trademark the brand were met unfavorably when compared to the treatment of William and Kate who have done the same for their charity foundation. The couple was slammed for their statement and one royal expert even called the comments spiteful. "The comments smack of spiteful fury. I fear it will get worse," wrote author Tom Bower.
