Royal fans appalled by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell announcement to split from royal family
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world with their bomb drop announcement that they would be quitting the royal family.
The new parents took to Instagram to announce their decision to "step back" as senior members of the royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's post shared that the couple plan to "work to become financially independent by starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution."
Their announcement came after their six-week-long break in Canada. The Buckingham Palace followed up on their announcement saying that discussions about the Duke and Duchess' plans are "at an early stage" and are "complicated".
Prince Harry and Meghan's decision to split from the family left social media divided. Many of their fans and followers were not pleased with their decision.
One fan took to social media to say, "Can I (taxpayer) get a refund on the wedding and house I paid for? I hope you will be giving up the mansion and not using tax-funded police as your security. Maybe Oprah can lend you her security team? Bye."
Another fan added, "Ungrateful toads. Just go to the US and stay there. The UK should cut any and all funding for you both. Meghan has alienated her own family and has now done it with Harry's. You want to step back renounce your HRH titles and Dukedom and move to the US. You could start a US chat show called Ginge and Cringe."
A third fan chimed in, "Meghan ruined Harry and the royal family. Oh well. He asked for it."
Another fan echoed the sentiments and wrote, "She doesn’t acknowledge her family and she wasn’t going to be happy until Harry broke from his. He is a fool. Thank goodness we have William and Kate, they have dignity and respect for the queen."
However, a few fans and followers did support their decision and took to social media to express their support. One such fan shared, "I SUPPORT YOUR DECISION!!! " while another said, "this will be so good for them and their family." A few people also wished them the best of luck.
