British writer, Lady Colin Campbell, in a recent interview, opined that Prince Harry "is a much less intelligent character" than wife Meghan Markle and "goes along with whatever she says" because he is "desperate to please" her. The 70-year-old Jamaican-born British writer made the claims in a conversation with new! magazine. Campbell, known for her 1992 best-selling biography 'Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows,' is currently promoting her new book 'Meghan and Harry: The Real Story.'

The author stated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie, "have a very strong relationship," however, Meghan is a "control freak" and in complete control of their relationship because Harry is "besotted with her." The 70-year-old from her home at Castle Goring, Worthing in Sussex, said: "In my opinion, Harry is a much less intelligent character than Meghan is."

"And I think he's so desperate to please her and go along with whatever she says, no matter how ill-conceived it is. He is that besotted with her," she added. Campbell previously married Lord Colin Campbell for a year in 1974 before retaining the title.

"She wears the trousers and is as dominating, charming and captivating a personality as Princess Diana was in her marriage," the author claimed. Campbell added that according to her, Meghan's ambition has "always" been to outshine Diana. However, the author believes that the former American actress has misread the situation and that her pursuit of fame in LA "won't 'take off' in the way she thinks she will."

Campbell had recently claimed that she believes the Duchess has political aspirations and hopes to run for the US presidency one day. She had added that she believes the Sussexes moved to the US in an effort to make their shift into the political sphere. "'I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I've been told that one day she wants to run for President," the author claimed. "I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her."

The 70-year-old has given multiple interviews in recent weeks about the couple, including one where she said Meghan has "squandered" the "most wonderful opportunity" by leaving the royal family, she told The Sunday Times. The author also claimed that there were early signs that Meghan would "not adjust" well to the royal life in Britain. Campbell had stated that the signs were visible shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

The royal couple, earlier this year, on January 8, had announced that they would step down from being senior members of the royal family and work to become financially independent. The pair, who had initially begun to settle in Canada, shifted base to the former actresses' hometown in Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a commercial career.

Although the Sussexes' much-publicized split from the royal family ruffled a few feathers in the UK, it was reported that they had at least one secret ally backing them in their decision being Princess Anne, the second child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. A month after Harry and Meghan announced that they were giving up their HRH titles, 69-year-old Princess Anne, while speaking to Vanity Fair, suggested that she understand why the pair made the drastic decision. Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips had also chosen to not follow royal tradition for the birth of their children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and had rejected the HRH title, which was offered to them by the Queen.
