Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas has spoken out for the first time since 'Megxit' divulging details about her past relationship with the Duke of Sussex.

In an interview with Evening Standard, the 'White House Farm' actress opened up about how dating a member of the royal family had a lasting impact on her career. She dated Prince Harry for about two years before they split in 2014.

Cressida Bonas said she had immense sympathy for her former lover after he announced his decision to step down as a senior member of the monarchy.

“I want to talk about my work. And also out of respect. What’s the expression? How would I feel if the shoe was on the other foot and it was an ex talking about me? It feels like a long time ago, so when it comes up it feels strange because I’m in a very different place now - I’m getting married, I’ve learned a lot," she said.

The actress also candidly revealed that dating Harry came with “hurdles and barriers” in her career.

“No-one likes to be labeled, no matter what it is about or where they come from. The hurdles and barriers for me are when I’m trying to do my work and people want to talk about him. I work very hard and love what I do - I just want to continue. But it is still something I have to contend with. It is what it is. People will perhaps always ask me about it," she said.

Cressida is currently engaged to marry property developer Harry Wentworth-Stanley. “We aren’t traditional people, even though Harry proposed in a traditional way - I’ve never thought about how someone would propose to me," she said about their plans not to "have a huge wedding.”

When she was asked to weigh in on the current crisis in the royal family, she acted coy about it. She refused to give a straight answer saying, she “wouldn’t take a position on that because it would be a headline.”
