Prince Harry had reportedly told his father Prince Charles and grandmother, the Queen, by email that he wanted to step down as a senior member of the royal family.

An insider shared, "Harry has given up everything, literally everything. He has burnt every single bridge back at home. And Meghan? Well, I rather think she’s got what she wanted," Daily Mail reports. The report also states that Harry had contacted his father and grandmother via email.

Both the Queen and Prince Charles had urged him not to make any hasty decisions. A family source said, "They understood that he and Meghan wanted something different and were willing to help but it was complicated."

"There were issues like security and funding, visas and tax, which neither of them had thought through. Harry was told to put his request in writing and come up with some ideas. He thought his family were stonewalling and decided to push the nuclear button," the source added.

Post-Christmas, when Harry had returned to the UK, his senior aides had pleaded with him not to announce the news to the public as they feared there would be a heavy backlash. Another insider revealed, "They didn’t even have a clue what the term financially independent meant."

"Unfortunately he was just too stubborn, blinkered and bitter to see sense. He believed he was being forced to play second fiddle to William when it was he and Meghan who had the star power. Yet his father had always made clear that while he favors a slimmed-down monarchy, Harry and his family would be a significant part of that," another source added.

We had earlier reported that Harry and Meghan flew to LA by a private jet before POTUS Donald Trump shut the borders to the USA. According to The Sun, a source shared, "Harry and Meghan have left Canada now for good. The borders were closing and flights were stopping. They had to get out."

Meghan, 38, has a large support system in LA, which includes her mother, Doria Ragland, who is a social worker and a yoga instructor. Meghan has many friends too, some of whom had reportedly visited her while she was staying at Vancouver Island.

It is also believed that Harry and Meghan moved to LA as they want to be close to "their new team of Hollywood agents and PRs."

Reports have also suggested that the couple regrets announcing that they wanted to step down from the monarchy and move to Canada, and now the USA. According to New Idea, a source claimed that neither the Duke nor the Duchess of Sussex had thought through the consequences of Megxit before making the historic announcement back in January.

“They realized they’re facing a harsh new reality - surviving as ordinary folks who have to work for a living. They’ve been living in a fantasy world fuelled by money-hungry Meghan. She convinced henpecked Harry they could take the world by storm and make mega-millions if they ditched the royals," the insider revealed.

"Without their HRH titles, their celebrity appeal is plummeting, and they’ve been forced to admit to the queen, ‘We were wrong! Let us come home,’" an insider said.
