Prince George is now a grown-up boy! In a new royal portrait released to mark the New Year, the six-year-old can be seen smiling as he poses alongside his great-grandmother Queen, 93, grandfather Prince Charles, 71, and father Prince William, 37.

In the family picture featuring all the heirs to the British Throne, the little prince wears his signature white long-sleeve shirt with blue piping and pairs it with slim-fit tartan trousers, from luxury children's brand Trotters.

His shirt style is similar to the one he wore for his first royal portrait in 2015 and on eight other occasions, including his fifth birthday portrait, Princess Eugenie's wedding and Trooping the Colour. It is his trousers that caught many eyeballs as he swapped his boyish blue shorts for the tartan trousers to get a slightly formal and mature look.

The royal was first seen in long trousers in an official portrait for Cambridge's Christmas card in 2018 and before that, he wore it when he acted as a Page Boy for Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie's weddings.

Looking graceful in a white dress, the Queen was accessorized by dresser Angela Kelly with a stunning sapphire brooch and a Launer handbag. The Charles and William look dapper in blue suits. All four wear complementary outfits in shades of blue.

As she enters a remarkable seventh decade on the throne, the picture seems to be a reminder of the future of the British monarchy. Reportedly, the photo was clicked on the same day they all made Christmas pudding together for the British Foreign Legion.

Captured by photographer Ronald Machkechnie on December 18, it is their second official group photo together and was clicked “to mark the start of a new decade.” Shared on their official Instagram account, it was captioned, "To mark the start of a new decade, a portrait has been released of Her Majesty The Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George.‬ The portrait was taken by Ranald Mackechnie in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace."
