Progress of a Prince: All the adorable photos of Prince George ahead of his fifth birthday
Prince George is not the only one excited about his fifth birthday on July 22. While his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly going all out for his birthday celebrations this year, it looks like Prince George has already received his first royal gift — a commemorative coin to mark the occasion.
According to a recent tweet by the Royal Mint, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge is getting his own coin, which will be a £5 (about $6.50) commemorative coin, available to the public for purchase. The coin, which is also embossed with the year 2018, is part of a Royal Mint's annual set called The Progress of a Prince.
The adorable prince made his first appearance on the steps of St Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing on 22 July, 2013, in what would become the norm for the couple. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed in the hospital for 24 hours after the birth of their first son before making it back to their home in Kensington Palace.
Prince George was christened at St James's Palace's Chapel Royal in Westminster in October 2013. The prince was wearing a hand-me-down gown which was a replica of a gown commissioned by Queen Victoria for the special purpose of royal christenings. George has seven sets of godparents, including Prince William's cousin Zara Tindall.
The royal toddler was then seen at 10 months old with his parents in Australia as the trio set off on their first Royal Tour as a family. "He's got quite a strong grasp, so we were worried about him seeing a bilby in Australia," Catherine laughed and said at the time.
Less than two years after Prince George, Princess Charlotte was born to the Duchess and, in a cute display of sibling love, Prince George took part in a photo shoot that showed him cradling his little sister in his arms and giving her a kiss.
To mark what was his third birthday, Kensington Palace released an adorable picture of Prince George playing with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's dog Ludo as he tried to feed it some ice-cream. "The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs. They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his third birthday," the official statement explained.
"I really enjoyed the opportunity to take these photographs of Prince George. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere," Matt Porteous, the photographer, later explained. "I'm honored that they have decided to share these images with the public to mark his third birthday."
Not many three-year-olds are privileged enough to meet the POTUS but Prince George seemed to be in his element when he met US President Barack Obama in a dressing gown. The Obamas gifted Prince George a toy horse.
Prince George looked adorable when he dressed up as a page boy at his aunt Pippa Middleton's wedding to James Matthews in 2017. From the looks of it, the cute toddler might just have stolen a little bit of his aunt's thunder at her own wedding with his adorably chubby cheeks.
In 2017, Prince George took his first steps towards getting a proper school education and got enrolled in St Thomas's preparatory school in Battersea. The calm and collected Prince was seen walking hand-in-hand with his father William and his teacher.
Prince George's aunt Pippa Middleton has admitted: "It's wonderful. He's amazing. He's a very, very dear boy. And he's brought a lot of pleasure and fun for all of us, the whole family. He's very characterful. He's sort of brought us all together, and we love spending weekends with him. He's very funny."
The little one is also his great-grandmother the Queen's favorite. "She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just she shows her love for her family," Duchess Catherine revealed of The Queen.
Prince George also enjoys a very close relationship with his nanny Maria Borrallo and the two reportedly have a very precious bond between them.
The year has been great for the little prince as he got a brand new baby brother. We're sure he loves having a little brother to goof around with.
The little one also dotes on his cousin sister Savannah. The affection was on display with all the funny facial expressions at this year's Trooping The Colour ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
So, a very happy birthday to Prince George! Here's hoping that you keep the cute pictures coming.
