'Prey' on Hulu: Who is Dane DiLiegro? Meet the actor playing 'Predator' in Dan Trachtenberg flick
The newest film in the ‘Predator’ franchise, titled ‘Prey’, has finally been released on Hulu and is undoubtedly the best Predator movie since the original that was released in 1987. One of the most amazing aspects of ‘Predator’ movies is the alien monster that wreaks havoc after setting its foot on planet earth. In the original film, the alien creature was wandering in the jungles of Guatemala and killing everyone who came in its way. Over the years, a lot of actors have donned the iconic costume and given viewers sleepless nights.
Kevin Peter Hall played the legendary monster in the first two ‘Predator’ movies while Ian Whyte wore the costume for ‘The Alien vs. Predator’ movies. On the other hand, actor Derek Meters portrayed the character of the deadly assassin in the 2010 movie ‘Predators’. So, there was a lot of excitement in the minds of viewers to know who is playing the monster this time around and it is none other than actor Dane DiLiegro who is donning the iconic costume.

Who is Dane DiLiegro?
Born on August 6, 1988, in Massachusetts, Dane DiLiegro graduated from Lexington High School in 2006 and went on to spend a year at the Worcester Academy where he refined his skills as a basketball player in the school's post-graduate program. After proving himself at the academy, he received a full athletic scholarship to play at the University of New Hampshire. He started his journey with the New Hampshire Wildcats in 2007 and continued to play with them for four years. He was always included in the starting five and was an integral part of the team’s defense and rebounding side. He graduated with the second-highest number of rebounds in program history.
His moment of glory came in 2009 when ESPN included one of his dunks in their list of Top 10 Plays of the Day. The popular athlete began to take the skills to a whole new level and graduated from UNH in May 2011 as the second all-time leading rebounder in school history. DiLiegro always wanted to play professional basketball and he got the chance at the highest level in 2011.
The athlete’s first team was Italy’s Assi Basket Otsuni and played with them for two seasons. After that, he went on to play for another Italian team, Dinamo Sassari, for the 2012-2013 season. Other teams included Pallacanestro Trieste, Hapoel Gilboa Galil, Mens Sana 1871 Basket, Tezenis Verona, and Pallacanestro Forlì. He played professional basketball for 8 years and called it quits after sustaining an injury.
He holds USA, Italian, and Israeli citizenship.
DiLiegro’s acting career
After walking away from basketball, DiLiegro started thinking about what he should do. In 2020, he decided to foray into acting and started getting roles requiring heavy makeup and prosthetics. DiLiegro is 6 feet 9 inches tall and that helps him in getting roles of monsters in several projects. His first acting role came in 2020 with the South Korean horror TV series ‘Sweet Home’. The actor portrayed the character of Muscle Monster in the series.
In the same year, he was cast as Hero Walker in AMC’s post-apocalyptic horror series ‘The Walking Dead’. Meanwhile, ‘Side Hustle’, ‘American Horror Stories’, and ‘The Quest’ are some of the projects that he has been a part of.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DiLiegro discussed working in the movie ‘Prey’ and also revealed which character he wishes to play in the future. He said, “I definitely have my eyes on Jason Voorhees. My parents went to this Halloween festival in Massachusetts and I was too scared to go, so they came back with a knife autographed by the actor who played Jason Voorhees. I still have it to this day. I was Jason for four Halloweens.”
Well, he definitely has the physical attributes of becoming the legendary ‘Friday the 13th’ villain. As far as his acting career is concerned, DiLiegro is rumored to play a mysterious role in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie.
Apart from acting, the ‘Prey’ star also has a YouTube channel where he hosts a culinary travel series called Adventure Monday.
Is Dane DiLiegro dating anyone?
A lot of rumors are floating on social media that DiLiegro and Paula Abdul are dating each other after they were spotted together on the red carpet of the movie ‘Prey’. However, the actor has categorically denied being in a relationship with Abdul and asked the media outlets to stop floating rumors. The actor took to Instagram and denied dating the renowned celebrity in one of his Instagram stories. He wrote, “I’m also not dating anybody so whatever being put out there is fraud info.”
Well, that settles everything.
