'Prey' on Hulu: Meet Amber Midthunder, Dane DiLiegro and rest of the cast of 'Predator' prequel
In 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger stunned the world with one of the most amazing horror-action movies ‘Predator’. Since then, a lot of filmmakers and stars have tried replicating the success of the original movie, but none of the movies managed to come closer to the first one. However, Hulu and 20th Century Studios are trying to bring a new flavor to the franchise by coming out with a movie that’s different from all the ‘Predator’ films that we have seen in the past.
Titled ‘Prey’, the movie takes place almost 300 years back in 1719 and sees the Comanche Tribe killing off animals to feed the entire tribe. One of their highly-skilled warriors named Naru tries to kill prey that’s been evading her for a while now. However, things change when she gets to know the prey she is stalking is actually a highly evolved alien with weapons that are advanced in every aspect. Chaos ensues and the tribe fights the dangerous alien to survive.

It is the fifth installment in the ‘Predator’ franchise and reportedly serves as a prequel to the first four films. If you love horror-action films, then you should definitely watch movies such as ‘#Alive’, ‘Peninsula’, and ‘The Hunt’.
The movie was in development when the 2018 movie ‘The Predator’ was released in theatres and was going by the name of ‘Skulls’. Later, it was revealed that ‘Skulls’ was just a codename for the movie and in 2021, it was announced that the movie will be titled ‘Prey’. The film comprises a cast almost entirely of Native and First Nation talent. Let’s take a look at the cast of the upcoming horror-action flick.
Amber Midthunder as Naru
Born in 1997, Amber became a part of the industry when she was just four years of age and portrayed the role of a little girl in the 2001 movie ‘The Homecoming of Jimmy Whitecloud’. However, her first major acting role came in 2009 when she played one of the pivotal characters in the movie ‘Not Forgotten’ alongside Simon Baker and Paz Vega. Amber is Native American and is also a member of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe as well.
Since 2009, the actress has been a part of several high-end projects, but it was ‘Hell or High Water’ in 2016 that have her wider recognition.
Meanwhile, her role in the hit TV series ‘Legion’ took her popularity to a whole new level.
As per her Instagram, the actress is currently dating actor and model River Thomas. They keep on sharing cute pictures of them together on their official Instagram accounts.
Dane DiLiegro as The Predator
DiLiegro didn’t start his career as a professional actor. In fact, he began his career as a basketball player and was part of the New Hampshire Wildcats from 2007 to 2011. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire as the second all-time leading rebounder in school history. The professional athlete went on to play in several countries like Italy and Israel and went on to represent Team USA at the 18th Maccabiah Games in 2009 in Israel. However, he changed his career in 2020 and started acting. He often plays roles requiring heavy makeup and prosthetics.
DiLiegro is 6 feet 9 inches tall and that helps him in getting roles of monsters in several projects. The actor has appeared in titles such as ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Sweet Home’ and ‘American Horror Stories’.
He also has a YouTube channel called ‘Adventure Monday’ where he hosts a culinary travel series.
Dakota Beavers as Taabe
The 22-year-old Native American will be making his acting debut with ‘Prey’. Born in Arizona, Beavers is an accomplished vocalist who has performed professionally from the age of 13. He is a descendant of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, a native tribe of the Puebloans, in New Mexico. Beavers is a lover of country and rock music and recently performed in Tennessee.
As of now, Beavers has more than 600 followers on the image-sharing platform and the number is surely going to go up when the movie releases.
Geronimo Vela as Comanche Warrior
One of the prominent actors from the Native American Community, Geronimo Vela has been a part of the entertainment industry since the early 2000s. The multi-talented artist began his professional acting journey in 2005 with the TV movie ‘Their Eyes Were Watching God’ and played the role of an Asian pirate in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’.
He went on to portray the role of a Native American in the blockbuster HBO series ‘Westworld’ for nine episodes.

Stefany Mathias as Sumu
Born on March 12, 1972, Stefany Mathias made her acting debut with the 1995 TV series ‘Hawkeye’ and went on to star as Brenda Eberhart in the 2002 series ‘Da Vinci’s Inquest’. Stefany graduated from the University of British Columbia theatre program and continued in Theater before making her debut on TV. She now carries the title of hereditary Chief with the Squamish Nation after the passing of her father on March 10th, 2000. She is one of 16 hereditary chiefs.
