FORT WAYNE, INDIANA: A press box collapse at a high school softball field has resulted in the hospitalization of nine students in Indiana. Among the injured were six Wayne High School students and three adults who were hurt during the game at approximately 1.30 pm on Saturday. The cause of the collapse is not known, but authorities suspect that the floor joist's inadequate security may have been a factor.

The audience and players were seated under the press box when the floor gave way, as reported by WOWK TV. Two students were airlifted to the hospital, including Addison Perkins, as identified by her mother on Facebook. "Addison was one of the ones that was life flighted. Addi has been cleared and just got discharged and has to follow up on 2 days with concussion clinic. We have A LOT of girls and adults still back there and they all need a lot of prayer," wrote her mother Brittany Leigh Perkins.

'One of the scariest days of my life'

She continued, "Today was one of the scariest days of my life. Watching the building floor collapse with kids and adults in and under it was unbelievably terrifying. This traumatized not only the injured but everyone there. Watching your baby being life flighted by herself was so scary. Please keep praying for all of these kids and adults and everyone there."



 

'Riley has bone bruising in her pelvis and hip'

There has been another update regarding the condition of the other injured student, Riley. Her father said, "Thanks everyone for the prayers and for checking on all of our babies. Riley has bone bruising In her pelvis and hip but the mri came back nothing broke and no discs are messed up. They are going to try and get her up and get her moving tonight and may get to go home tomorrow evening. God sure watched over our babies today."



 

Addison's sister Karli McDaniel wrote, "No one prepares you for the day that you have to watch your little sister be life flighted all alone."



 

A freelance photographer who was present at the game shared a photo on Facebook depicting the unaffected members of the boys' and girls' teams anxiously waiting at the hospital to learn about the condition of their injured teammates. "The boys down here with the girls. I love my community," she said.
