Damar Hamlin's amazing charity remembered as NFL fans send prayers

Damar Hamlin's charity's GoFundMe page had a goal of $2,500. However, the number has now surpassed $1.7 million as donations pour in after his collapse

CINCINNATI, OHIO: NFL fans are now supporting Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin's charity called The Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive after he collapsed on the field on Monday night, January 2, 2023,  while playing against the Cincinnati Bengals. The donations for the charity have been pouring into the verified GoFundMe account created on December 14, 2020, since Hamlin's tragic on-field collapse. The page had a goal of $2,500. However, the number has now surpassed $1.7 million.

Hamlin’s statement on the page reads, "As I embark on my journey to the NFL, I will never forget where I come from and I am committed to using my platform to positively impact the community that raised me. I created The Chasing M's Foundation as a vehicle that will allow me to deliver that impact, and the first program is the 2020 Community Toy Drive."

Hamlin further wrote, "This campaign gives you the opportunity to contribute to our first initiative and positively impact children who have been hardest hit by the pandemic.  100% of the funds raised will go toward the purchase of toys for kids in need."

Many fans are retweeting the link as donations pour in. One fan tweeted, "Toys are so important for kids - their imagination, learning, creativity, fandom... This really shows what kind of man Damar truly is." Another wrote, "This is incredible, I checked Damar Hamlin’s fundraiser when he was still being tended to on the field and it was barely above $2,100. It is over $1,100,000 now!" Another fan said, "It always gives me hope in humanity when everyone united to pray and support people through tragedy.. I just wish we came together more often."

On the other hand, one pointed out by saying, "It’s a shame it takes a tragedy to unite us… that being said, pray for damar, tee, and everyone close."
