LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The Last of Us’ actor Bella Ramsey has opened up about using a chest binder and has admitted to using it for ‘90%’ of the time she spent on the sets of the blockbuster HBO show. The actor had recently come out as gender fluid and non-binary and had opened up about her understanding of what gender is and how she believes it ‘has always been fluid.’

“I’m very much just a person,” Ramsey said. She added, “Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like, but in terms of pronouns, I really couldn’t care less.” The actress has been vocal to many outlets about how she cannot care less about what pronouns are used for her. She also said the chest binder helped her focus greatly on the set and had urged fans to be safe about it as she believes it "probably isn’t healthy." Ramsey added, “Like, please bind safely.”

Going by Ramsey’s words, co-star Pedro Pascal, who has been a longtime LGBTQ+ advocate, has been nothing short of  being immensely supportive for his young co-star. She said that she had many open conversations with the actor, who also has a sister who identifies as transgender. “They weren’t always deep. They could be funny and humorous, the whole spectrum. We were just very honest and open with each other,” Ramsey said.

Prior to her time on 'The Last of Us', Ramsey had been part of 'Catherine Called Birdy' and 'Becoming Elizabeth', where she had portrayed characters wearing corsets and skirts. “I felt super powerful in that. Playing these more feminine characters is a chance to be something so opposite to myself, and it’s really fun,” Ramsey said, according to The Independent. “This is what bothers me more than pronouns: being called a ‘young woman’ or a ‘powerful young woman’, ‘young lady,’ but I’m just not [that],” she added.

She had also recently spoken about being allowed to make it into the writer’s room discussions for season two of the show.  In an interview with GQ, Ramsey said, “It was so cool to hear them talk about ideas — I’ve watched quite a lot of the gameplay of the second game, just because I’ve been curious. I think [the show] will most likely follow the storyline of the games again…I don’t think there’s much need to fill in the gaps.”
