Who was Galina Fedorova? Playboy model drowns in freak accident during photoshoot, cops question photographer
A Russian model reportedly died in a tragic and freak accident while doing a photoshoot out in the ocean. Galina Fedorova, 32, was found dead by coastguards after going for a swim with photographer Yev Taranovs. It is believed that the two were on a boat trip for an assignment when the two had decided to stop for a swim off the Sardinian southeast coast.
The boat, which was littered with alcohol bottles, broke away from its anchor and beached itself on a reef closeby, at Isola Rossa, The Sun reports. Taranovs spoke to the authorities and said the two had tried to swim for the boat but at that time, he lost sight of Galina.
He then shouted for help to a nearby vessel. He was taken to Sardinia while a chopper located the lifeless body of the Playboy centerfold. The authorities had also seized a drone which had been used for the photoshoot. A source from the police revealed, "There is interest in the drone footage as this happened very close to a Nato firing range. We have to make sure the assignment was not a cover for a spying mission."
Taranovs, 42, had taken to his Instagram handle to talk about his trip to 'paradise'. He had also shared a video online of himself steering a boat at speed along with the caption, "A sailor went to sea sea sea." Galina had described herself as a "model, traveler, yoga lover, hedonist, and earth patriot."
A police spokeswoman revealed, "The current took the boat towards the reef and they tried to swim towards it but were unable to reach it." She also shared that Taranovs is being questioned. A friend of Galina's had confirmed her death to her Instagram fans and followers.
They had written, "Sorry to say about that but Galina got into an accident in Italy, Cagliari city and it didn’t end well. My condolences." A social media user responded to this and wrote on Instagram, "unfortunately, Galina died tragically. we were told about this by her mother." (translated from Russian to English via Google) Another social media user commented and said, "Rest in paradise my friend. I’m grateful for the connection and adventures we had. Namaste."
"Rest in peace my beloved classmate," commented another. Yet another grieving fan shared, "Heartbroken! RIP Sweet Angel!" while many others said "RIP Galina" and offered their condolences.
