Former 'Good Morning Britain' host Piers Morgan was repulsed to find out that his long-time friend and ally Sharon Osbourne received death threats after she stood up for him following his departure from the British talk show as a result of his comments on Meghan Markle.

"This is true, and so disgusting," Morgan said on Twitter. "The woke brigade are the new fascists. If you don’t agree with them, they want to kill you." Osbourne has defended the ex-ITV star but has since become embroiled in a whirlwind of abuse, following her own on-air dispute with co-host Sheryl Underwood on her chat show 'The Talk'.

Sharon Osbourne gets death threats for defending Piers Morgan's comments on Meghan Markle, hires security

After the dispute, Osbourne reportedly has had to hire her own security as she is receiving death threats. TMZ was told by sources close to the TV host that after defending Morgan on ‘The Talk’, Osbourne has been slammed by people on social media. Not just her, her family, and her dogs have also been targeted.

The 68-year-old’s social media has been bombarded with comments like, “Die and go to hell", “I hope Sharon Osbourne gets hit by one last wave of Covid & dies”, and “F**k Sharon Osbourne, her husband, her momma, them ugly f**kin' kids, the family dog and the b***h that lives next door. She can go die in a fish grease fire”. The level of threat is reportedly so high that Osbourne is getting threats on her personal phone numbers.

As per reports, the security guards have been placed outside the entertainment manager’s house all week to prevent any kind of attack or bad incident. For safety and mental peace, Osbourne has also turned off the comment section of her recent Instagram posts.

During the episode that aired on 10 March, Osbourne said: "Did I like everything he said? Did I agree with what he said? No, because it’s his opinion. It’s not my opinion… I support him for his freedom of speech, and he’s my friend.  I’m not racist… I don’t care what color or what religion anyone is. Are you a nice person? That’s what I judge you on." Sheryl Underwood hit back, challenging her colleague, saying: "What would you say to people who may feel that while you’re standing by your friend, it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don’t agree?"

At the time, Osbourne admitted she felt like she was about to be put "in the electric chair" for defending her friend. She continued: "Because I have a friend, who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist? What does it gotta do with me? Educate me. Tell me when you have heard him say racist things." Her co-star replied: "It is not the exact words of racism, it’s the implication and the reaction to it."

Sharon has since apologized for her approach but said she felt blindsided by the TV network. "I have always been embraced with so much love & support from the black community & I have deep respect & love for the black community," she said on Twitter. "To anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry."
