'Shut up': Piers Morgan blasts Prince Harry for accusing media of exaggerating UK coronavirus crisis
Piers Morgan is known to be an outspoken critic of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. Time and again he has shown that he is not going to hold back and will always voice his disagreement with the Sussexes.
The 55-year-old has again slammed the Duke of Sussex and labeled him a "pampered little Duke" while speaking on the 'Good Morning Britain' show on Monday, April 20, after Harry made headlines for saying the coronavirus crisis is not as bad in the UK as being reported by the media.
The 35-year-old was a guest on podcast ‘Declassified’ when he said that things were “better than we are led to believe through certain corners of the media."
Morgan was joined by co-host Susanna Reid, 49, and a panel of journalists to discuss the day’s headlines when he began his rant against the younger brother of Prince William. During the discussion, the broadcaster said that Harry was "making it all about him again" after "ditching his country" and urged him to "shut up."
“I might remind him the world is in a war at the moment with a virus which is destroying lives and the lives of health care workers in this country. What was Harry’s contribution to this debate other than making it all about him again? To claim we’re all exaggerating this war,” Morgan said angrily.
He added, “The brass neck of this guy, who ditched his country. Now lives in a Malibu mansion, that I don't think he even pays for, lecturing us that we are exaggerating a war. When we have had deaths of 80 health care workers. We are showing people the reality of this and we’re not reliant on a pampered little Duke in his Malibu mansion.”
Morgan also insisted that he does not want to hear anything from Harry and the ‘Suits’ actress during the ongoing global public health crisis as he said, “I’m sorry to use tough language but the bottom line is I don’t want to hear from these two during this war. Making it about their little hurt feelings. 'Oh isn’t my life awful in my Malibu mansion'. Shut up, seriously."
‘The Insider: The Private Diaries of a Scandalous Decade’ writer’s anger escalated when his co-host, Reid, tried to defend the former royal couple. “Why do you excuse them? You heard what he said. We are exaggerating it. This coronavirus crisis according to Prince Harry in his Malibu mansion is not as bad,” he yelled. He also admitted that the pair make him want to "vomit", and said the Queen, Prince William, and Kate Middleton had all been "exemplary."
“The Cambridges, unlike the Sussexes, are living, seeing, breathing it,” Morgan noted.
“No one care about squabble with her dad. No one seems to have told these two in their mansion in Malibu that no one cares. We care about health care workers. We don't care that she hates her dad. There's something a million times more important happening,” the father-of-four added.
However, Morgan is not the only one who has condemned Harry’s statement. Professor Karol Sikora, a former Number 10 adviser, also deemed his comments “outrageous”. “What are his qualifications for making these comments — other than deserting his country in its hour of need? I think these remarks are outrageous,” he said.
“As for the media, I really don’t understand what Harry’s beef is. Journalists have been reporting the facts and have been doing great work in holding the Government to account. The media has also championed the NHS and become a key ally of doctors, nurses and key workers. They should be applauded, not vilified,” Sikora added.
