Piers Morgan takes cheeky shot at Meghan Markle after being placed above the Duchess in a list of London's 100 most influential people
After realizing he was placed above Meghan Markle in a list of London's 100 most influential people, British TV presenter Piers Morgan appeared to take a cheeky dig at the Duchess of Sussex.
The London Power 100 saw the 'Good Morning Britain' host placed at 21st, just above Markle's 22nd, thereby giving him a one-up over the Duchess whom he has been frequently critical of.
"What's good is that I'm in at 21... and oh Meghan Markle is in at 22 - that's awkward isn't it?" Piers, who made his return to the show after a week-long hiatus, said. "Obviously none of my work colleagues made the list, unfortunately."
The list, released in March by the London Post, provided Piers the ammunition he needed to go after the Duchess, whom he has previously called a ruthless social climber after she allegedly "ghosted" him following drinks.
Piers previously revealed to Daily Mail that he became friends with Markle after speaking to her online and later met with her at his local pub in Kensington.
The actress was introduced to Prince Harry just hours after he said goodbye to her, Piers claimed before she "ghosted" him.
"When someone more important and influential came along, in the shape of Prince Harry, I was instantly dumped like a sack of spuds (that’s what we call potatoes in the UK)," he wrote at the time.
Piers recently accused the Sussexes of being self-obsessed, especially after they spoke of their own struggles during a trip to Africa where they originally intended to highlight poverty, racism, and violence against women.
That said, viewers were delighted with the return of their favorite morning show host after he took a vacation for Halloween. Meanwhile, an online campaign was started by his critics in a bid to have him sacked.
Last month, Piers sparked a furious debate online after claiming he identified as a penguin as part of an on-air rant on gender dysphoria. This lead to a petition calling for the TV host to be axed. Nonetheless, his viewers appeared to be rather delighted at his return.
"Welcome back Piers, am glad common sense has returned to Breakfast TV," one wrote.
"The ‘One and only’ is back. Thank God !!" another added.
