Piers Morgan is still friends with Donald Trump, says he doesn't 'really care what people say about me'

'Well I think with Trump if I saw him, he'd probably be fine. You know I criticized him because he came out with this ridiculous notion we should be injecting ourselves with bleach,' said Morgan

Piers Morgan has claimed that people’s opinion about him does not concern him. The broadcaster also said he is still friends with US President Donald Trump despite criticizing him recently. Morgan made the comments in an interview with GQ, after receiving his award for Personality Of The Year.

The 55-year-old said as reported by The Sun, “I don’t really care what people say about me. Honestly. I know people think I must do, but I really don’t. I just see it as a good chance to wage a new feud." Morgan did not lag behind when it came to criticizing Trump during the presidential election 2020 and when the Republican leader declined to accept his loss against Joe Biden, the ‘Good Morning Britain’ host asked him to "suck it up and go”.

But speaking during the interview with GQ, Morgan said despite his differences with Trump, they are friends. “Well I think with Trump if I saw him, he'd probably be fine. You know I criticized him because he came out with this ridiculous notion we should be injecting ourselves with bleach. I wrote a column for the Mail and the headline was: 'Shut the f**k up, Mr President. You're bats**t crazy ideas will get people killed', and he unfollowed me. With someone who divides opinion like a few I always try to be fair-minded with Trump, I think my job as a journalist is to be impartisan, with Trump I always try to be fair-minded,” he added.

This comes after Morgan shared how someone did a prank on Trump by pretending to be him for minutes. He wrote in his Daily Mail column, “He’d seen me talking about him on US breakfast TV show Fox And Friends, and thought it was time to bury the hatchet. He dropped an immediate bombshell. 'I actually got scammed by a fake Piers. ‘SORRY?’ I exclaimed.‘Yeah, some guy rang pretending to be you when I was on Air Force One yesterday, and I actually spoke with him for a few minutes. He sure sounded like you. I guess we’ll soon be reading about it somewhere. A fake Piers, crazy!'” He went on to explain: “Only Trump could find such a prank funny. Most world leaders would be horrified to be caught out like this."

Not very long ago, Morgan also slammed Trump for claiming election fraud and praised the president-elect. He remarked, “Biden will be more naturally empathetic to people’s suffering than Trump’s been", also lauding his winning speech as "brilliant" and the "best of Biden's career".

In addition, Morgan was slammed lately for sending love to Meghan Markle after she disclosed her tragic miscarriage. The Duchess of Sussex lost her second child earlier this year as she wrote an emotional letter for The News York Times, that read, “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”

Reacting to the news, Morgan said, “Deeply new revelation, it happened in July - very sad news, obviously, for her and Prince Harry.” But the internet seemed not very happy with his statement since the journalist has not left any moment to criticize Meghan. "Wondering how long it will take @piersmorgan to condemn Meghan Markle for daring to speak of the miscarriage she suffered," one user said. Another one added: “Just a reminder that whilst Meghan Markle & Prince Harry were dealing with the pain of a miscarriage and the trauma that comes with it @piersmorgan was piling on them. Probably Piers & racist British media contributed greatly to the loss of the couple’s 2nd child."
